Activision has just announced a shocker of a deal for Guitar Hero fans.  If you preorder Guitar Hero 5 or you purchase the game in specially marked boxes in September - you'll get yourself a free copy of Guitar Hero Van Halen for free!

Guitar Hero 5 is scheduled for a September 1st release, while Guitar Hero Van Halen is schedule for a late fall release.  That'll net you a total of 130 songs for the price of one game.  It's unclear though whether or not you'll need to purchase the GH5 pack with the guitar, which is pictured above, or if the stand alone version will do.  This is a mail in offer and they do say "allow six weeks for delivery" - but it appears you'll be Hot For Teacher before anyone else is!

In this strange turn of events, my 59.99 that I already pre-ordered for Van Halen will net me GH 5. Party on, Excellent, and as wayne and garth would say " schwing.

I did find out since I just pre-ordered is that it can be the 59.99 GH5 game or the 99.99 Kit and you will still get GH VH>

Wow, it looks to me like they don't expect much out of the VH game.

David Lee Roth but no Michael Anthony? Pfft!

Wait, mebbe they don't see GH5 selling very well.

Review on X-Play show that Johnny Cash, Carlos Santana and more will be in the game. Plus, more good news,
songs from GH Games starting with GH World Tour can be imported with a code on the back of the manual from GH 5.
That means only GH World Tour and Smash Hits so far I think but that sounds like really good news and I"m feelin good about
my pre-order with that news and getting the GH VH makes this worth it to me.

Can't import GH2 so that means I can't import the better Message in a bottle note chart, maybe if I could find Brian Bright's email to see what can be done about the bad Smash hits note chart for it, he seems like a reasonable fellow. Here is interview with him discussing Party Play on GH5 which should be another good feature for easily starting games with 4 people quickly.
