Eric Murphy - Community Manager

Eric has been a gamer for as long as he can remember. His first gaming experiences were shared with his brothers on a Commodore 64 with games like Mario Brothers, Fire King, Double Dragon, and Save New York City. Eventually, he ventured into PC gaming where he expanded his experience to online gaming and participating in gaming communities. In college, he was thrown into console gaming (kicking and screaming) around the release of Halo:CE which was the start of his ultimate transition away from PC gaming. That transition was complete when he met his soon to be wife who is also a gamer. Now, you'll rarely find Eric gaming without his wife at his side, so "couch co-op" games like the Halo, Gears of War, and Left 4 Dead franchises are a staple of his game library.

When he's not gaming, he's working for a consulting firm as a software engineer, spending time with his family, or geeking out with one of his many computer related hobbies. At Co-Optimus, he is in charge of the forums where he feels at home engaging with the community.

Including A Special Th.A.L.C.O. Thursday Edition!

F.A.L.C.O. Episodes 4 And 5 Are Ready for Consumption

Friday Awesomely Live Co-Op took some interesting twists the past few weeks. If you haven't noticed, the three of us are super dads, and sometimes dad duties or other family things get in the way of F.A.L.C.O., but the show must go on! I found myself with no co-hosts a couple weeks ago, and that would be fine if this were So-Loptimus, but alas, we are Co-Optimus, so I did what every super dad does in this type of situation: con their kids into work.

Could we fit more Extra Life news into one title?

Extra Life Goes to Space; Returns with Rainbow Six and a Game Dev Bundle

Ok, so Extra Life didn't quite make it to space, but it got pretty close. A small group called Stratosphere Adventures sent a balloon to the edge of space carrying a message to promote Extra Life. They captured an incredible view hoping to inspire gamers to join Extra Life or make a donation. Check out the video they put together below.

Gaming for the folks with the REAL guns

Join Us for Operation Supply Drop's 4th Annual 8-Bit Salute

Next month, Co-Optimus staff and community will be participating in Operation Supply Drop's 4th Annual 8-Bit Salute. We're hoping to put together a team of co-op gamers (like you!) to attempt a 24 hour marathon of gaming for our troops. Of course, it's not all fun and games, we're raising money to send gaming-filled care packages to our troops who are risking their lives to defend the US and her allies. These courageous folks are under continuous stress, and could truly benefit from a mental escape that gaming often provides.

Help Extra Life and Co-Optimus break records

Extra Life Approaches $4 Million - Gives Away PS3/Vita Games

First of all, I'd like to thank all of our donors and team members for participating in this year's Extra Life charity marathon. The Co-Optimus community and staff continue to impress me with their desire to give to those who need it, and for that I am very thankful. Together, our team has raised $2,038 so far. We're still accepting donations until December 31, so there's still time to get your tax deductible donation in, and to help us reach our team goal of $2,500.
