Defiance is free to play on Steam this weekend. Trion Worlds' massively multiplayer third person shooter is still plugging along. The game has received numerous patches since launch, so if you haven't played it since the free beta back in March you might want to check it out. The free trial will last until 1PM PDT Sunday, May 26th. That's more than enough time to shoot some aliens and earn some decent scrip.
There’s no question that PAYDAY: The Heist took the Left 4 Dead formula and produced it into a solid co-op gaming experience. Thus, 505 Games and Overkill announcing that they're translating that into a new PAYDAY web series got us pretty excited, and with only a couple of months until the launch of PAYDAY 2. In addition, there’s actually an upcoming PAYDAY movie coming out too, which sounds pretty intriguing if it’ll be anything like the revealed trailer.
Call of Duty: Black Ops 2 has been out for a while now. But that won't stop the team at Treyarch from patching the game up as they see fit. Taking cues from the community, they have been patching Black Ops 2 in order to deliver the best gameplay experience. A title update was released not too long ago that added the "Uprising" fixes for Black Ops 2. A subsequent patch was released to fine tune the additions that was brought with that title update. This time, a number of multiplayer tweaks as well as game balancing issues have been resolved. For a complete look at the patch notes, read below:
It shouldn't take long to remember why you fell in love with Bungie games after watching the new "live action" trailer that teases their upcoming shooter, Destiny. Bungie has a storied past of creating universes from Halo, Myth, and even Marathon - their worlds are always rich with lore, content, and intrigue. If the latest trailer, titled "Law of the Jungle" is any indication of Destiny's future - well let's just say it's destined to fall right in line with the rest of Bungie's franchises.

Sanctum is back, and it's ready to fight! Sanctum 2 takes a more action-oriented approach to first person tower defense gaming, allowing you and as many as three friends join forces to corral and eliminate invading alien hordes.
Dead on Arrival 2, the mobile zombie shooting arcade game currently under development by N3V Games, is ready for you. Well, its beta is ready for you, anyway. The team recently opened sign-ups for the Android beta phase of the game, which will commence June 1st. You'll need a decent Android device, of course, and N3V also warns that potential testers should have an iron stomach and a moral code that allows you to shoot zombified friends in the head. Check and check!
Stop me if you've heard this before: Call of Duty DLC that has been available on the Xbox 360 for a month is now available on PS3 and PC. You have to love those timed exclusives. CoD: Black Ops 2's "Uprising" map pack includes four new multiplayer maps and a new co-operative Zombie map.
The Fuse "launch" trailer is now live. The game doesn't come out for like a week and a half so that's... weird. Why do I have the feeling there's going to be another trailer? The video offers a sliver of back story and features the prerequisite cool weapon footage and an abundance of explosions, faceless bad guys, and exploding faceless bad guys. I know, I know, it's still not Overstrike, but it looks like it has potential to be a pretty decent squad-based shooter.
Good news for defenders of Sanctuary. To help celebrate the one year anniversary of Diablo 3, Blizzard is offering an in-game buff to players. If you log on to play Diablo 3 between May 15 and May 21, you will receive a 25 percent buff to both magic find and experience gain stats. The developer states; "The buff is only available while logged in to the game, but it will apply to all characters as well as stack with other similar bonuses -- the EXP bonus will stack multiplicatively and the Magic Find bonus will stack above the 300% cap."
Sanctum 2 is out! The sequel to the 2011 tower defense/first person shooter hybrid has finally hit, and developer Coffee Stain Studios is celebrating with a nice little launch trailer. The video manages to capture the game's intense action quite well, showing off a lot of gameplay footage complete with guns, explosions, towers doing their shooty things, and enemies bursting into brightly colored goo. Delicious.
The post-apocalyptic, Eastern-European setting seems to have been growing in popularity these days, with Metro: Last Light releasing just earlier today. Soon, Left 4 Dead 2 players will be able to take the normally southern-based team of Survivors on a Ukrainian based campaign within a brand new indie mod.
Monaco: What’s Yours is Mine is a wickedly fun co-op game to play, but a what if it had included a multiplayer mode as well? Would it have taken away from the immersive co-op gameplay we have now? Andy Schatz recently described some reasons why Pocketwatch Games decided to stick to their co-op guns and forgo some competitive modes for Monaco.
Bungie and their new IP, Destiny, have some big shoes to fill after setting the bar with the Halo series. The question many are wondering is: will the Destiny universe be able to pull us in like Halo’s did? Well, new story details of the game have appeared on the official website, sparking all new conversations in anticipation for Bungie’s next big thing.
Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Out of the Shadows is looking to be totally tubular. The release of their second character trailer has Raphael kicking the shell out of some unlucky Foot Soldiers. The 4 player co-op brawler is resembling more of the TMNT games we were used to back in the 16 bit era, instead of the dark path the franchise has taken in the recent years.
You may have seen some info on the free Soul Sacrifice DLC heading our way later this month. You may have even noticed the poster below in your local Gamestop. It's true: several new bosses have been confirmed as free DLC with eight of them having been identified. I would have mentioned something earlier, but I've been playing the game so much I forgot to write about it. This is easily my pick up and play guilty pleasure of the year (so far). If you haven't been keeping up with your Avalon Pacts, check out the image below and get an eyeful of the grotesque monsters soon to be marked for extermination.
