Muse Games' steampunk airship combat title, Guns of Icarus Alliance, is making its way onto the PlayStation 4. When it does, not only will it feature cross-platform play with the Steam version of the game, but cross-platform voice chat as well.
Muse Games' cooperative update to their popular (formerly) PvP game, Guns of Icarus, has finally arrived. The entire affair has been rebranded as Guns of Icaraus Alliance, though the PvP only mode is available separately as Guns of Icarus Online, and it's on sale for just $15 until May 31.
At PAX East, I had the very pleasant experience of an in-depth interview with Howard Tsao, the Team Lead for Guns of Icarus: Alliance (henceforth, Alliance). We discussed everything Alliance has to offer players as well as the trials and tribulations of developing Guns of Icarus and its ambitious expansion.
Guns of Icarus has been a concept kicking around almost since this site's creation. We reviewed the original game back in 2009. Eight years later the game has been re-written from the ground up, expanded in every aspect, and re-focused for cooperative play with the new Alliance mode set to release sometime this year.
After hearing about Muse Games' co-op only mode for their airship battling game, now titled Guns of Icarus Alliance, for almost two years, it looks like it might finally be getting close to release. Everyone will get a chance to check it out in just a couple weeks during an Open Alpha event.
A few years ago, we reviewed a little game called Guns of Icarus and found, unfortunately, the co-op a little bit lacking. Fast forward half a decade into the future. Four-manned blimps once again rule the skies. Here we are, in the year 2014, and Guns of Icarus has been reborn as Guns of Icarus Online. And you know what? It finally has a dedicated co-op mode! Interested dirigible pilots may investigate this co-op expansion at Pax Prime this month, but only from August 28 through the 29th.
