If you read our Sierra Event Preview then you already read the dissapointing news that the upcoming Ghostbusters game will not feature any story based cooperative play. It's very dissapointing for sure, especially given the co-op nature of the Ghostbusters team. DarkZero has a quote from John O'Keefe, the director of the game, about why they chose to not include co-op through the campaign.
“If you remember, the comedy and scares were really important to the feel of the movie and we really wanted to replicate that,” he said. “We want you to feel like you’re a Ghostbuster, and so co-op with your friends playing the other Ghostbusters we wouldn’t be able to control that comedic timing and delivery of lines. Even though co-op would be an interesting aspect we made a conscious decision because we wanted to capture the Ghostbusters experience, but there is an online component of the game that is cooperative but it’s nothing to do with the story.”
The good news is the game DOES still have cooperative play, with two modes of play. There are a set of special missions, similar to what Turok did, and there is a Gotta Bust Em All mode where it's an arcade style get as many ghosts as you can mode.
