The House of the Dead 2: Remake Will Launch on Switch and PC in August

The modern remake of Sega's classic light gun shooter is nearly here.

At the beginning of this year, Forever Entertainment announced that THE HOUSE OF THE DEAD 2: Remake was in the works for all platforms. Many fans consider HotD2 to be the best game in the series, so this was good news indeed. The questions remained, however, of when the remake would come out, and which platforms would receive it first. Well, now we know! HotD 2: Remake is due on Switch and PC on August 7, and other versions will follow at some point after that.

Official details:

Story:

In February 2000, a small city was suddenly overrun by hostile creatures. Two AMS agents, James Taylor and Gary Stewart, were sent to investigate. Upon arrival, they noticed that the situation resembled the Curien Mansion incident from 1998. Determined to uncover the source of the infestation, they began shooting their way through hordes of creatures.

Game Features:

  • Remastered music (with the classic soundtrack also available in the game)
  • Modern graphics
  • Gameplay faithful to the original game
  • Co-op mode
  • Multiple endings and branching levels

Various Game Modes:

  • Classic Campaign: Almost two years after the events of the first installment, AMS agents James Taylor and Gary Stewart are deployed to investigate a city seized by undead creatures.
  • Boss Mode: Take on the challenge of defeating the game’s bosses as fast as you can.
  • Training Mode: Polish your skills in several available training scenarios to improve your abilities before deploying on a mission.

We're glad the game is almost here! Will the PC version support Sinden light guns by default, though? It really should!

THE HOUSE OF THE DEAD 2: Remake will cost $24.99 when it arrives on Switch, Steam, and GOG on August 7. Xbox and PlayStation versions should come sometime thereafter. For an idea of what to expect, see our co-op review of the first remake!
