Capcom's big trade show, cunningly called "Captivate," wrapped last week. One of the big announcements was that our favorite war-photojournalist-turned-zombie-stomper will return for Dead Rising 2: Off the Record. From what we can gather from the press release, the game will be a sort of Dead Rising 2: Redux, where Frank is the main character, instead of Chuck Greene. If you watch the following video, it looks like that's exactly what's going on. Oh, and Frank seems to have packed on a few pounds.
There will be new missions, new enemies, and new combo weapons. The game also boasts "enhancements to elements such as the save system and the co-op experience to deliver more satisfying gameplay." Just what these "enhancements" are remains to be seen. Dead Rising 2 supported 2 player online co-op. Off the Record should do the same. If there is any additional co-op we will be sure to let you know. This will be more than DLC, Amazon has the game listed at $49.99 and slated for an October 31 release. Dead Rising 2: Off the Record will be available on Xbox 360, PlayStation 3, and PC.
Yes, this will be the fourth game with the Dead Rising 2 moniker. If you're having a sense of deja vu, it's because Capcom pulled these same shenanigans years ago with Street Fighter 2. Personally, I'm waiting for Super Dead Rising 2 Turbo Edition EX: Bigger and Zombier. Check out the video and let us know what you think.
