On PC and mobile phones, freemium or free-to-play games are all the rage. Freemium games cost nothing up front, instead making their money from optional microtranactions. For whatever reason, console manufacturers Microsoft and Sony have only really started opening up to the free-to-play business model this year, with multiple titles in the works for both systems. Now Microsoft has announced that massive online action game Happy Wars will be the very first Xbox 360 freemium game when it launches in fall 2012.

Good news, PlayStation 3 owners.  Kingdom Under Fire II developer Blueside has confirmed that the Action/RTS game is coming to the PS3 at the same time as the Xbox 360 and PC versions.  The exact release date has been hard to pin down, mainly due to problems with Xbox LIVE's closed content policy.

Bad news everyone!  According to Eurogamer.net MMO Kingdom Under Fire II will not be released on Xbox 360 until Christmas of 2011 due to Xbox LIVE's closed policy.  KUFII game director Sang Youn-Lee told Eurogamer.net:

An action RTS sequel to a standard RTS game, Kingdom Under Fire 2 is shaping up to be a quality, albeit different co-op game. Kingdom Under Fire 2 looks to be on a massive scale, with massive battles, somewhat resembling a controlled MMO (that is to say, limiting the co-op to 15 players, as opposed to World of Warcrafts numbers around 6million subscribers.) This new gameplay trailer released for Kingdom Under Fire 2 shows some impressive cut scenes, as well as the actual gameplay we can expect from such an epic title.
