DungeonLand Gets Free to Play Version

DungeonLand was a nifty little action game that came out on PC earlier this year. Featuring three player co-op with players jumping into the shoes of different characters, you'd fight through twisted amusement parks in a hilariously gory style of game that resembled the classic Gauntlet series. Our biggest gripe with the game was the often punishing difficulty combined with some networking issues which have since been fixed.

Dungeonland Update, Plus Character-Narrated Video Guides

Those of us still bounding around the Dungeon Maestro's theme park have a lot to love about Dungeonland, as our co-op review so masterfully illustrates. Recently, Paradox Interactive placed the previously exclusive Grimoire Pack DLC on sale for the buying populace to consume along with an update that fixes a few rough spots in the game. Oh, and then there are the three video guides narrated by Rogue, Mage and Warrior. Just for fun.

The tale of a team of designers hell-bent on making a game

DungeonLand Post-Mortem Tells a Great Story

The folks at RockPaperShotgun recently posted a stirring post-mortem with Mark Venturelli and Gabriel Texeira of Critical Games, the studio behind DungeonLand. It's a surprisingly meaningful tale that, with the right spin, could be a movie of the week: deep in the heart of Brazil, a group of freelance illustrators band together with the stubborn goal of making a video game. The odds are stacked against them in a country sparse with indie game creators. But they fight, they persevere, and they emerge on the other side with the shining gem that is DungeonLand.

Out of Beta and Onto your Computers

DungeonLand Release Date Announced

We've been following DungeonLand since it was announced last March, and thankfully unlike some other games coming this year, this one is coming in under a year's time - as opposed to a 4 year wait.  The 3 player co-op hack and slash game is set to release on the PC on January 22nd.  With that Paradox is taking pre-orders for just $9.99 on the game, which will be available from GamersGate and a handful of other digital distribution services.
