Why choose between ranged or melee when you can have both?

30XX Gets a New Combo Ranged/Melee Character Called Delta

30XX is one of the best roguelikes out there, combining the tight platforming action of the Mega Man X series with the challenge and randomization that roguelike fans crave. Batterystaple Games has done lots of refinement through updates since 30XX first appeared on Steam Early access a few years ago. The latest such update adds a new character for free, one who combines the best attributes of the two existing characters. Also, the Steam version is on sale, making it a great time to travel to the distant year of 30XX!

Double Dragon Gaiden Now Has Online Co-op and 'Sacred Reunion' Update

When Double Dragon Gaiden: Rise of the Dragons arrived in July of last year, we were blown away by its exceptional stage design, fast and simple gameplay, and large array of unlockable characters. The only thing it really lacked was online co-op, but that has now been rectified. Today's "Sacred Reunion" DLC (which is really a title update) adds online co-op, Survival and Versus modes, and three new unlockable characters. It's a big update, and it's free, baby.

Deathwish Enforcers Special Edition Gets Some Good Tweaks on Steam

Deathwish Enforcers Special Edition arrived on Steam this month, bringing some good, old fashioned arcade-style run-and-gun shooting to PC. While the game's reception has been quite good, developer Monster Bath Studios is already pumping out updates to fix the minor issues that players have discovered. It's great when a developer cares about their product!

River City Girls 2 Gets 4-Player Online Co-op on Xbox Series S|X, PlayStation 5, and Steam

River City Girls 2 is one of this generation's biggest and best beat 'em ups, combining smooth combat, action RPG mechanics, and a delightful story into one compelling package. Whereas the first game only supports 2-player local co-op, RCG2 launched with 4-player local and 2-player online co-op. We thought that's where the co-op features would end, but WayForward surprised us by adding 4-player online co-op to the Xbox Series S|X, PlayStation 5, and Steam versions of the game. Now we're talkin'!

Double Dragon Gaiden's First Update Allows 'Annoying' Notifications to Be Disabled

Double Dragon Gaiden: Rise of the Dragons from Secret Base and Modus Games might just be the best beat 'em up of the year, but no game is perfect. In fact, this one launched with a common complaint: distracting pop-up notifications that occur whenever a player defeats three or more enemies with a special move. Thankfully, the latest update allows these notifications to be turned off. What's more, a promising balance update is in the works.

River City Girls 2 Gets a Major Update on All Platforms

When River City Girls 2, the latest game in WayForward's beloved beat 'em up RPG series, arrived in December, players quickly discovered that the game's frame rate was inexplicably locked to 30 FPS. TMNT: Shredder's Revenge Gets Custom Games Feature and New Video Filters

When it comes to 2022's Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles games from Konami and Dotemu, it seems like the two titles are always trying to outdo each other. One game gets a trailer; the other game gets a trailer. TMNT: The Cowabunga Collection gets an update; TMNT: Shredder's Revenge gets an update. While today's Shredder's Revenge update isn't as earth-shattering as the one The Cowabunga Collection just got, it does add a cool Custom Game feature that will make Arcade mode a lot more fun, plus some video filters for people who want the game to look less pristine.

TMNT: Shredder's Revenge Finally Supports Combo Co-op on PlayStation

When the highly anticipated Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Shredder's Revenge launched in June, it boasted an impressive array of local and online co-op features. The Xbox, Switch, and PC versions allowed local and online players to join the same game, a feature we call combo co-op. PlayStation, however, did not support this feature. That finally changes with the latest update, which enables combo co-op in PlayStation. What's more, all versions of Shredder's Revenge just got a party code system to facilitate cross-platform co-op!

iiRcade Gets RetroMania Wrestling Update, Online Co-op for More Games, and Donut Dodo

Okay, so we've been neck-deep in TMNT: Shredder's Revenge for the past few weeks, causing us to miss a few of the latest iiRcade announcements. iiRcade, as all the cool kids know, is a home arcade platform for which users can buy individual games. Some of those games include RetroMania Wrestling, which just got a free update; the recently released Donut Dodo, a single-player game that plays just like a lost arcade classic; and several existing classics like Strikers 1945, The Ninja Kids, and FixEight that now support online co-op.
