Iron Meat Gets New Modes, Weapons, and More on PC, Console Update Coming Soon

The run and gun shooter now gives players a lot more carnage.

Iron Meat is an extremely bloody run and gun shooter in the style of Contra. The Steam version of the game now has even more meat thanks to the addition of a Boss Rush mode, an Arcade mode, and new weapons and enemies. That'll keep players on their toes! The update is out today on Steam and will come to consoles in the near future as well.

The free update adds the following:

New modes:

  • Arcade: Play through Iron Meat with a limited number of continues!
  • Boss Rush: Take on every boss in Iron Meat, one after another, and pick out the weapons you want to use before every fight!
  • Mutation: Customize your experience with a set of 10 unique “Mutator” settings!

New weapons:

  • The “F” (Flamethrower) is a unique, close-range weapon that dishes out a stream of multiple fireballs. These fireballs will trail along as the player aims in different directions.
  • The “P” (Particle Gun) A weapon that fires dozens upon hundreds of concentrated particle projectiles. According to top secret intelligence, it has been known by a few agents colloquially as “The Bacon Gun.”

A new enemy:

  • Wall crawling zombies: These fetid sacks of flesh are a new regular enemy. They appear on background or foreground elements that will run along the stage area, giving you even more baddies to butcher.

Now that's an update! Note that players must clear Story Mode's 9 stages to unlock the new modes. Iron Meat comes from Retroware, the publisher behind the upcoming Neon Inferno (also a run and gun shooter) and Toxic Crusaders. The game supports 2-player local co-op.

Iron Meat sells for $19.99 on Xbox, PlayStation, Switch, and Steam. The Steam version is on sale for 25 percent off through June 5 (and there's a free demo), so don't miss it!
