Setting The Record Straight On Borderlands DLC Retail Bundle + Contest Loot

News
Twitter facebook googlebuzz

We've heard the official word from Borderlands PR, setting the record straight from that fiasco that came from our announcement about a retail release of some bundled DLC. The bundled pack will officially only include Mad Moxxi's Underdome Riot with The Zombie Island of Dr. Ned, and will only be released for the Xbox 360 and PC versions of the game.

"Borderlands Double Game Add-On Pack* featuring the hilariously gruesome The Zombie Island of Dr. Ned and the finest next-gen display of Darwinism ever made, Mad Moxxi’s Underdome Riot.

The Borderlands Double Game Add-On Pack will be available for $19.99 on both the Xbox 360 and PC on April 6, 2010 in North America and April 9, 2010 internationally."

We feel this bundle is a bit odd, since the DLC is released at the same cost for direct download - but for those that need to get their hands on that shiny disc, this is for you. For those with the PS3 version of Borderlands that are a little sore about having no disc version available, we have some codes for you to play The Secret Armory of General Knoxx.

Three PS3 Download codes will be available to fortunate commenters to this post telling us why you need the massive amounts of loot from the General Knoxx DLC. User names will be randomly drawn on March 23 (please be sure to add that you do, indeed, have the PS3 version of Borderlands.)

I really need that DLC so I can play with all my co-op buddies. Most of my weapons are from lower levels and a few Pearlescent would really hit the spot. And yes I have the PS3 version of borderlands.

Now they need to box up all three DLC, along with the original game, and pop it on the PS3, call it a GOTY edition, and THEN I will be sold.

boo! only 2/3 of the DLC's and no discount? where's the incentive?

That sounds annoying having to put in this disk to play DLC. Unless you download the maps from it and the disk is useless, I see no point.

I NEED the massive amounts of loot in General Knoxx because of these reasons. One, I signed up for his twitter account and just today he's "signing off," so I missed his hilarious accounts of turning people's brains into a fine mist. TWO, my 119x4 Dahl Double Anarchy is getting rusty and I need something new to play with! And finally THREE, I didn't win anything in the Army of Two contest and I need to win something for once in my life! Hell, I finished 7000th place in a marathon the other day! Let me be first, just once!

This is worth the read

Why I need massive amounts of loot from the General Knoxx DLC.. See a long time I ago, when I came to Fyrestone, I had a dream of being a professional mercenary, dueling combat rifles and having a sniper and revolver as back up, but when I hit level 5, I got my Turret and well, since then I depended on it all the way through walkthrough 1 and 2. Then the General Knoxx DLC was released, the Crimson Lance were all up in my face with their $999,999.99 reward on my head. I had to stay very vigilant and lately that has been the problem, my turret hasn't been the same as it was back in the day. See, before General Knoxx, I was literally all powerful with my turret so I just never thought I needed many guns or cash, no one could stop my turret and I, but recently, coming to T-Bone Junction, all I have been doing is make Hyperion richer with their New-U Stations. Anyway, after about 20 deaths and counting in the General Knoxx DLC, I have finally reached level 60 and know if I want to be able to continue, I'm going to need much, MUCH better items, because Ol'Beasie (my Turret) isn't gonna get me to General Knoxx himself. Now there are 2 natural ways of getting loot, killing and buying and well killing has become being killed and all my money belongs to Hyperion, heck they feel so bad for me the fee for my last 3 New-U usages have been waived! So I took a break from Pandora and decided to see if there was any luck for me on the internet, since most weapons are random spawn, I thought I was going to be a goner, until I stumbled upon this article which to me, was the little light at the end of a really long tunnel. So here I am, hoping to win this contest and that maybe I'll be able to be the merc I sought to be a long time ago coming to Fyrestone. Thank you for your time, if I do win perchance, my PS3 gamer tag is godlike1337.

Thanks again,
Roland a.k.a. Marcus

I find it odd that they would release some of the DLC on disc on some of the formats. Seems a little haphazard to me.

That's ridiculous! Why do 360 and PC gamers get the retail disc and PS3 gamers don't? I've been waiting for the DLC to come out on retail but alas, it's still eluding me.

And in response to the competition, I own Borderlands on PS3 and I NEED the General Knoxx addon. My bro and I keep coming back to Borderlands for our couch co-op fix. Army of Two The 40th Day was nice but Borderlands has just got more going for it.

We've done everything possible with Mordecai and Roland and am almost finished with Playthrough 2 with Brick and Lilith. Even worse is that we've bought some mean guns in our first playthrough 2.5 that are Level 50 ! So when I say we need that DLC... Yes, we really NEEEEEEED that DLC! We have weapons that we can't use with out it

That was 'Greater than level 50' regarding my guns comment above... the 'addition' sign didn't show up. Now I really need that DLC to take out my frustration on something - lol

I do have the ps3 version and I need some loot! I want to go after that raid boss with my best friend and this could do it for me!

No PS3, 360 only in this house.

Great that the details are confirmed, but WHY just the first 2 DLC? Seems kinda stupid to me. I'd prefer a Three-Pack.

Seems like a no brainer...

I have the PS3 version and I need more loot because I've already gathered every gun that is in the game (ok, maybe I missed a few).

I'm in need of some DLC and loot because my co-op buddy is out running marathons. Marathons?!?! When he could be playing Borderlands with a Siren with penchant for pink Outrunners... And yes, I have the PS3 version. And no, I do not run marathons.
