Beyond Co-Op, November 6th to November 12th

Welcome to Beyond Co-Op, a weekly piece that talks about industry stories that may or may not be related to co-op gaming.

The stories for this week:

- Polyphony Digital Working on Gran Turismo 6
- Miyamoto Interested in Giving Other 2D Zelda Games the 3D Treatment
- PC Version of AC: Revelations Will Have One-Time Check DRM, No "Always On"
- Wal-Mart Fires First Black Friday Shot...and it's a Doozy
- Assassin's Creed: Revelations, Saints Row: The Third, Need for Speed: The run, Halo: Combat Evolved Anniversary, Super Mario 3D Land, Rayman Origins and Kinect: Disneyland Adventures All Next Week

Polyphony Digital Working on Gran Turismo 6

No huge surprise here, but the bigger thing is how long will it take to make the game and is it being worked on for the current generation PS3 or on whatever the next Sony system is. At least on the latter I would think they’d be working on even an idea of what the next generation system is because there’s no way they’ll pump this out quickly, it took #5 so many years to be completed.

Miyamoto Interested in Giving Other 2D Zelda Games the 3D Treatment

This is not too surprising either since the best game available on the 3DS until this coming Sunday was the 3D Ocarina of Time remake. It is sounding like they are thinking about doing a 3D version of the Super Nintendo’s Link to the Past, which to this point is my favorite entry in the series. Too bad I can’t see 3D and why wouldn’t they do some of the other “3D” Zelda games like Majora’s Mask, Wind Waker or even Twilight Princess?

PC Version of AC: Revelations Will Have One-Time Check DRM, No "Always On"

Ubisoft continues its schizophrenia with DRM when Assassin’s Creed: Revelations is released on PC later this month (at least at the moment). It will not contain the “always on” DRM that games like From Dust and Driver: San Francisco had. Instead it will use a one-time connection check. Good to see Ubisoft moving in the right direction, but who knows what will happen with the next PC release from them.

Wal-Mart Fires First Black Friday Shot...and it's a Doozy

Wal-Mart has shown its Black Friday hand and there are many good deals, but we’ll hone in on the gaming aspect. There will be a Kinect bundle (including the sensor) with Kinect Adventures, The Gunslinger and Fruit Ninja for $99.96

. There are a lot of new games for $28 like Battlefield 3, Batman: Arkham City, FIFA 12, Madden 12, Gears of War 3, Forza Motorsport 4, inFAMOUS 2 and Killzone 3. There is also a Blue Wii for just $99. You can check out the whole ad in the link below and then we’ll sit and wait for other stores to bring theirs out. Wal-Mart will be opening at 10pm local time on Thanksgiving night. Pretty soon all stores will just start being opened on Thanksgiving and Black Friday will not exist anymore…heh.

Assassin's Creed: Revelations, Saints Row: The Third, Need for Speed: The run, Halo: Combat Evolved Anniversary, Super Mario 3D Land, Rayman Origins and Kinect: Disneyland Adventures All Next Week

As if last week wasn’t bad enough, this week will make your wallet want to disappear. Everything but Zelda: Skyward Sword (next Sunday), Mario Kart 7 and Star Wars: The Old Republic pretty much comes out this week, arguably the last massive release week of the year.

There’s something for everyone. I personally can’t wait for Assassin’s Creed: Revelations, Ezio’s supposed last entry. There’s also the dildo bat wielding Saints Row: The Third, a rather popular title for one that was created as a knockoff of Grand Theft Auto. The next Need for Speed comes out and will probably buckle under all the other major games that have come out at the same time or around it. The original Halo sees re-release with updated HD graphics and 343 Industries first full crack at the series. The 3D sees probably its best original game so far in Super Mario Land 3D. The beautifully enchanting Rayman Origins comes out and for families all around there is Kinect: Disneyland Adventures which will allow you to travel the theme park, ride the rides and do other things.
