Variety online has reported that EA Games president Frank Gibeau has let slip that an unconfirmed sequel is coming down the tubes for this year's most impactful co-op beautiful letdown: Army of Two.
While most agreed that the game was fun for a playthrough, the same crowd castigated it for its repetitive gameplay, horrid online interface and matchup system, and lack of enticing features to grab gamers' attention.
Personally, I would have enjoyed Army of Two if more of my friends could have hopped off of Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare for fifteen minutes. Two DLC map packs (SSC Challenge Pack and Veteran Map Pack) were offered shortly after release, but the dull thud of solid game content hitting the barren sandbed of a creek run dry was too much to bear, and my copy found a new home without ever really having a chance.
Thanks to EA Games and their annoyingly optimistic way of squeezing every last drop from an intellectual property, Army of Two will get a second chance. Click the "Source" link to read the whole article, which also includes news about the budding Dead Space and Battlefield Bad Company franchises.

Huh. What wierd timing, considering we were just discussing AoT.
I don't see why everyone keeps saying these games are co-op letdowns. What makes AoT so much of a let down in comparison to Gears? I loved AoT, I won't re-iterate all my thoughts, but you can find them in the Fable II New post thread.
Also, SSC Challenge pack was not free, and nowhere did it state that the pack was ONLY for online Competetitive. What a waste.
When J3nn and I finished it we were talking about a sequel. The ending sequence kind of left it pretty open to the idea.
We were tossing around idea's for titles. Chances are if they aren't creative, they'll go AoT:2, or Maybe Army of Three?
Who knows.
Thank you for the correction; I've fixed the article.
I don't think that word means what you think it means.
In other, AoT news, I heard there's a movie being developed. I can't wait to see Salem and Rio on the big screen! (Although I know it will be terrible)
That's what Variety is reporting. The screenwriter is the same fellow that wrote the screenplay for The Bourne Ultimatum.
And yes, I'm getting skewered, but I deserve it sometimes. Research, research, research, Jim!
What would you like to see fixed?
I would like to see more guns and more customization. I'd like to see a third co-op player option, and remove the versus mode completely. And I'd like less linear levels.
Fair enough, though I think 3 co-ops is a wierd number. What didn't you like about the versus mode? I'm not much of a versus player, but I did try it once, and didn't find too much that wrong with it.
Agreed about the levels, they are linear as hell, but I didn't really mind it during my play through. The reason I only recently played through the first Halo was because on my first run through, I got hopelessly lost in the ship (2nd or third level, not the human ship) and couldn't find my way through for the life of me. I yearn for the days of Doom and a good map.
