Build Co-Op Levels Together in Lego Indiana Jones 2July 20th, 2009 at 2:01 PM by Jim "txshurricane" McLaughlin

Joystiq reported Thursday that in answer to the popularity of LittleBigPlanet's user-created levels that could be constructed in co-op, a similar mode will be featured in LEGO Indiana Jones: The Adventure Continues.

Although we already knew about the level editor, being able to collaborate with it is great news, and will be included for the Nintendo Wii version. The bad news: created content will not be shareable online.

To this point, we still don't know if the sequel will have online co-op...or even more than two players, for that matter. One thing is for sure: we look forward to getting our hands on this title.

Coming Soon: Lego Indiana Jones 2: The Adventure ContinuesJune 01st, 2009 at 11:28 AM by Marc "DjinniMan" Allie

You may recall a story which we ran earlier this year, in which we predicted a Lego game based on Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull.  Well, call us Nostradamus, because we are getting exactly that later this year, and it's coming to pretty much every system.

The sequel will be called Lego Indiana Jones 2: The Adventure Continues.  The new content in the game will focus on last year's Indy film.  In case you are thinking that might not be enough content for a complete game, there's more.  For the first time, a level editor will be included.  Building entire levels brick by brick, just like when you were a kid, should be fun.  It remains to be seen whether a level editor alone will be the shot in the arm the LEGO franchise needs.  We're holding out hope for four players, and bring back online co-op please!

Indiana Jones and the Very Average ScreenshotsApril 08th, 2009 at 11:14 AM by Jim "txshurricane" McLaughlin

"Being a Wii owner and an Indiana Jones fan, I am buying Staff of Kings. But I'm not proud of it."

This is what I said to Twitter followers last week, and I meant it. I will probably buy Indiana Jones and the Staff of Kings, despite all misgivings. The game doesn't look bad per se...it just doesn't look as good as an Indiana Jones action game could should be.

WiiNintendo.net has a batch of screenshots -- some we've seen already, and some we haven't (such as the above). They still look mediocre, although I do like the atmosphere that LucasArts is trying to create.

In the meantime, I've gotten my Indy fix by visiting the screening room on board our cruise ship and by dabbling with Lego Indiana Jones. Coincidentally, Lego Indy has just had a price drop at Amazon.com and select retail stores for all platforms. Check it out!

This Week In Co-Op: Xbox 360 Bundles Are Co-Op FriendlyMarch 04th, 2009 at 12:39 PM by Jim "txshurricane" McLaughlin

Console bundles are not hard to come by. Classic consoles almost always had a decent game packaged with them, and with three hot competitors, manufacturers are constantly trying to find ways to lure consumers into spending hard-earned cash on their product.

Of course, a high-dollar purchase isn't so simple these days. The general population is holding a little more tightly to their cash. There are only so many ways to entice a buyer, and a bundled deal is probably the most classic and proven method; even fast food joints depend on the "all-powerful bundled deal" to make true profit. (Want to sink McDonald's? Stop buying fries. They'll go belly-up in a month.)

Whether by coincidence or Master Plan, Microsoft's bundle lineup this season subtly appeals to co-op gamers, and more specifically multi-child families -- the epitome of "couch co-op" gamer tribes -- by offering titles that feature offline cooperative modes, thereby encouraging co-op gameplay without additional costs such as a Live Gold subscription or separate consoles.

LEGO Harry Potter Not Coming in 2009January 05th, 2009 at 10:46 AM by Marc "DjinniMan" Allie

Fans of co-op are likely fans of Traveller's Tales LEGO series of games.  The titles, based on famous series like Batman, Star Wars, and Indiana Jones, feature two player co-op.  LEGO games are, unsurprisingly, quite kid and spouse friendly, but at the same time enjoyable by your more typical gamer.

Several rumors about the next game in the LEGO series have been floating around.  The most popular rumor was that LEGO Harry Potter would be next, what with the release of the next movie in the series this summer.  A LEGO version of Potter's wild wizarding world would seem both a natural fit for the franchise, and a way to pretty much print money.

It seems 2009 will not see the release of LEGO Harry Potter, though, according to a senior source from Eurogamer.  But a new LEGO game in an old series may be an option.

"You never know," he (TT producer Loz Doyle) replied. "There's always the possibility that we would revisit a franchise. And you never know, it might not be the end of Star Wars, it might not be the end of Indy - we keep our options open."

Producer Nick Ricks added: "There will be a LEGO game in 2009. And I think it's okay to say that you'll be a bit surprised."

The fourth Indy movie wasn't part of the first LEGO Indy title, so perhaps that is a possibility.  As far as Star Wars goes, there's plenty of source material to consider.  Personally, my money is on LEGO Clone Wars sometime this year.  Which is too bad, because LEGO Harry Potter would be far better.  The series is getting somewhat stale at this point, and revisiting old franchises would seem to be more of the same, wouldn't it?  What new series of LEGO games would you like to see?

Co-Op Classics: Diablo II, Lego Indy, and Ben 10 ("This Week" Edition)July 11th, 2008 at 1:15 PM by Marc "DjinniMan" Allie

Earlier this week, you got a taste for classic co-op in Broodax's column, featuring ToeJam and Earl.  I felt it would be a good idea then, to discuss co-op games I played this week in my column.  As it turns out, I played one classic co-op game, one that will be a classic, and one that isn't a classic at all, but was a decent way to spend an hour or two.  I'll leave it you to decide which was which from this list: Diablo II, Lego Indiana Jones, and Ben 10.

You would think they would patch the USB port stuff.. Its just silly to have to unplug stuff that you usually just leave plugged
Yeah but I think it would still be cool!
Thanks for clearing that up! I probably won't buy it though.
