Find out if the new Contra is a remake or a reboot, what a Galuga is, and much more!

Contra: Operation Galuga Developer Interview

New game announcements from WayForward are always good news, but we were especially excited to learn that the California-based developer would be creating the next game in Konami’s venerable Contra series of run-and-gun shooters. Contra: Operation Galuga is being directed by our old pal Tomm Hullett of WayForward, and it will be coming to con...

Three Treasures and a Cave classic

Radiant Silvergun, Bangai-O HD, and More XBLA Shoot-em-ups on Sale This Week

Shoot-em-up fans know that XBLA shmups seldom go on sale, if ever. That’s why we’re both surprised and delighted to see not one but four Xbox Live Arcade shmups on sale this week, all of them with 2-player co-op. The highlight of the sale has to be Radiant Silvergun, a port of the extremely rare Sega Saturn classic from Treasure. But heck, if you’re a fan of the genre you’re probably going to want them all.

Co-Op Heavy XBLA Deal of the Week

There's a lot of co-op love in XBLA's Deal of the Week sale!  Four out of the five games feature co-op.  Hard Corps: Uprising, X-men Arcade, Lara Croft and the Guardian of Light, and Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Turtles in Time Reshelled are all 50% off.  These four games have an average score of 4 out of 5 in our Co-Op reviews. Comic Jumper, and excellent single player game, is also for sale for half price.

"I'm moonsaulting! I'm moonsaulting! WWE, here I come!"

Hard Corps: Uprising DLC and Screenshots

Get out your nickles and dimes, it's that time again.  Konami has announced new DLC for the Contra-rific Hard Corps: Uprising.  Now you can pick up Leviathan, armed with a Moonsault Grenade Throw and a Slide Attack. This is the third downloadable character for Hard Corps: Uprising.  Sayuri the samurai (go figure!) and Harley the biker (you're not even trying now, Konami) were available as extra DLC characters on the game's release day, February 16th.  If you love you some Hard Corps: Uprising, leveling up these characters will add some re-playability. They'll also cost you 200 MSP apiece.  Anyone have the number to Shenaningans?  I'd like to call them.

Hard Corps: Uprising Co-Op Review

As a die-hard sidescrolling shooter fan, when I found out a new Contra game, a prequel to the underrated Genesis title Contra Hard Corps nonetheless, was being developed, I was completely stoked. How does the latest title fare? Read on and find out.

New Hard Corps Uprising Trailer Features Beautiful Co-Op

Hard Corps: Uprising is kicking off th Xbox LIVE Arcade House Party this winter.  To celebrate, Konami has a brand new trailer featuring Kenji Yamamoto, the producer of the game, in full house party regalia.  Which in this case, is a party hat and one of those noise makers everybody hates.  The video is chock-full of co-op action.

Hard Corps: Uprising Kicks Off Xbox LIVE's Arcade House Party, Plus New Pretty Screens

Summertime, and the livin's easy... I love the summer.  That's when Xbox LIVE Arcade puts out five games in five weeks to null the void of lackadaisical game releases.  Wait, this can't be right, unless the Summer of Arcade is starting February 16th.  Looks like Microsoft has decided that late winter/early spring is also lacking in quality game releases.  Never fear, game starved readers.  Xbox LIVE's Arcade House Party is here to alleviate the winter doldrums, and everyone's invited, assuming you've got the Microsoft Points to pay at the door.
