Arrrr, avast ye scabrous scallywags!  With the recent release of the Tales of Monkey Island game, and the upcoming release (as of the time of this writing) Secret of Monkey Island Special Edition, I was in a very pirate-y mood this weekend.  So I decided to play the only (dyarrrr, that takes the wind out o’ me sails) co-op pirate game out there, Certain Affinity’s Age of Booty.  With a few fellow lubbers in tow, we set sail in the hopes to pillage some villages, sink a few ships, and fill our holds with pieces of eight. Age of Booty is a real-time strategy game that puts you in control of a pirate ship that’s out to capture a few towns before your rivals.  You only control the one ship, which can be upgraded through the collection of resources that are generated by the town.  In the single player mode, you and a group of AI partners race against the other pirates to capture the most towns first.  In co-op mode, the goal is the same, but you now have real live partners to help out, which is a much preferable option.  Since none of us were exactly up for searching for another group of players to take down, we went with the tried and true comp stomp.  My friends and I formed the Red Hand team (and a more foul-tempered, grog-swilling, bloodthirsty gang o’ Jacks you will not meet), while our AI adversaries, the fearsome Admiral Enis and his band of Trained Monkeys, formed the Poison Talons.  With the teams set for a 4v4 match, all that was left was for us to get to pillaging! YARRR!

Serious Sam HD is right around the corner for the PC and Xbox 360.  To get the ball rolling Majesco has launched an interesting contest for the game.  All you need to do is come up with a one liner for Sam to say.

It should come as no surprise to anyone, but Activision has announced that Guitar Hero 5 will sport a brand new special edition Guitar.  The major upgrade to the guitar is that internal signaling has gone digital, which minimizes latency.  These means less missed notes.

Sure the game is over a year old, but that doesn't mean PlayStation 3 owners should miss out on this frantic and beautiful shooter. It's a dash of Geometry Wars and a dash of Asteroids for the modern age. Of course we wouldn't talk about it if it wasn't for co-op...

Remakes are the new wave of arcade gaming it would seem. Now, Alien Breed Evolution is next in line with an Unreal engine makeover. We've passively kept a hopeful eye on this title, waiting for more details to sink some slimy alien-teeth into.

Spokesperson Joel Kinnunen says that developer Frozenbyte is satisfied with the wonky price point difference between PC and PlayStation 3 versions, the lack of online co-op, and the non-existent PlayStation Network release date for their highly-regarded title Trine.

This week saw a new co-op release to Nintendo's WiiWare platform.  The game is called BitBoy and is from small developer BPlus.  

This month we're taking the Activision's Call of Duty: World at War for a spin on the PC.  We'll be playing the campaign mode in co-op as well as the ever popular Nazi Zombie mode!  With any luck the latest patch will be out providing us with a new four player co-op zombie map!

The title may be deceiving, but we do talk a bit about some laptop, or pc, or something. It slips my mind to tell you the truth. Say goodbye to cat helmets, sound tracks, art books, and behind the scenes DVDs.  They no longer are the bar for collector's editions of games.  Infinity Ward's Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 has set the new baseline with their Prestige Edition of the game.

The next great Guitar Hero game is on its way, and you'll find it loaded with over 85 tracks of music goodness.  Guitar Hero 5's artists range from Nirvana to Coldplay, and everything in between.  Activision has unveiled part of the official set list today giving you a taste of what you'll be shredding with your friends come this fall.

The more we hear about Borderlands, the more we want it. This time, we get a peak into the gameplay! Games.on.Net interviewed Gearbox about many elements of the game, while showing some very interesting gameplay footage at the same time.
