Last week Microsoft was running a "Backwards Compatibility" sale for their weekly "Deals with Gold," meaning you could pick up a bunch of older Xbox 360 titles for cheap. This week, they're offering discounts on some of their first-party title, including Halo 5, Gears of War 4, and Halo Wars 2.
The space flight sim/cargo shipping game, Elite: Dangerous, will at long last make its way onto the PlayStation 4 next month. Starting next Tuesday, May 30, you can pre-order the title digitally on PSN in the U.S., or you can pre-order the boxed Legendary Edition. Either way, you'll have to wait another month until you can play.
A new top-down shooter has emerged from the depths of Steam! Geneshift, the debut title from the new/one-man indie dev Nik Nak Studios, mixes that shooter mechanic with a little tactical ideology, some RPG leveling, and murdering zombies. There are some really interesting ideas at work here and some great co-op opportunities.
The latest title update for Tom Clancy's Ghost Recon Wildlands addresses some user interface issues for all platforms, but more importantly, fixes a couple of co-op issues. The key one being players spawning in random world locations during a mission. That one definitely annoyed me.
Though it's been a year since it's somewhat rocky release, Black Forest Games hasn't given up on their run-n-gun roguelite, Rogue Stormers. A recent update, "The Rise of Hindenbork," has not only added new content, but also made some slight tweaks to the way experience works when playing with a friend locally.
While the next Housemarque title, Nex Machina, was announced this past December at the PlayStation Experience, it was unsure if they'd follow the trend of their past games and include co-op. Fortunately for us, the Finnish developer has cleared things up and announced that this title will have two player local co-op.
As we approach another weekend, you may be thinking to yourself, "what will I play?" If you own an Xbox One, then the answer to that question could be any number of things with this week's Deal with Gold that includes new titles like Destiny and PvZ: Garden Warfare 2 as well as number of backwards compatible titles like Borderlands 2 and Castle Crashers.
As a lover of co-op gaming I reckon that most of you will already have a Xbox Live Gold account to allow you to play online, but if you don't, this weekend you will still have free access online. This means that you can play any of your games online, plus you can try out Minecraft: Xbox One Edition until 21st May.
Neighborhorde, a forthcoming PC, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One title featuring "videogame-like gameplay" and "cute low-poly animal kids", will be available for you to play and also fawn over on June 6th of this year. Before you know it, you'll be blasting enemy robots away with your adorable widdle ray-guns.
Bungie and Activision's live stream event for Destiny 2 just wrapped up and there were some interesting new details revealed for the loot shooter. The title will have new worlds to explore and new loot to find, sure, but it also has a rather innovative idea about how to ensure all players can experience all that co-op content.
The Shovel Knight (now updated to Shovel Knight: Treasure Trove) co-op patch we heard about earlier this year has finally arrived. Now everyone can enjoy the joys of swinging a shovel with a friend!
Come November of this very year 2017, there will be a new sheriff in town: Cowboy Captain America! While his affiliations with Hydra aren't known at the moment, what we do know is that he is one of the multitude of new characters you can play in LEGO Marvel Super Heroes 2 when it comes out later this year.
