Easter bunnies, GDC, Gotyshock, and Snake

Beyond Co-Op - March 24th through March 30, 2013

Ah, Easter weekend. A time for many of us to get together with family, eat lots of food, and pass out in a chocolate coma. A time for gamers to spend the weekend tending to the backlog. A time for, well you get the picture. There was a lot of news in the gaming community this week, thanks mostly in part to GDC 2013 in San Francisco. Oh, and the release of Bioshock Infinite (or GotyShock, as I lovingly call it). Finally, we bear witness to another machination from Hideo Kojima.

Defiance Co-Op Preview and Developer Interviews

The game also happens to have an accompanying TV show of the same name debuting on the Syfy channel on April 15th. I recently visited Trion Worlds and put some time in with the sci-fi shooter, talking with developers, engaging in the Shadow War, getting crushed in PvP, and most importantly, checking out the co-op.

What's an Unglob?

Another Creature Joins the Roster of Guardians of Middle-Earth

Everyone loves spiders. Especially giant spiders --giant spiders with spiny legs that skitter around on needle-point claws, meticulously working bone-crushing chelicerae framed by sharp, venom-filled fangs, peering into your soul with their glassy, alien stares of desperate hunger. Makes me feel all warm a fuzzy. The makers of Guardians of Middle-Earth are tapping into our universal love of spiders with their new character, Unglob.

We are given a brief launch trailer, a short clip of the television show, and another Ark Hunter episode to keep us satisfied until the Tuesday launch.

A sin-sational cooperative RPG

Divinity: Original Sin Preview

Larian Studios are known for crafting thoughtful RPG’s. They have created wonderful games in the Divinity series, and the upcoming Divinity: Dragon Commander appears to push the envelope in strategy gaming. Returning to their roots, Larian has taken a traditional RPG and centered it around the meaningful interactions of players as the cornerstone. This game, which we have been following closely for some time, is Divinity: Original Sin. As a cooperative experience, we have taken a great interest in this title due to the fact that the greatest gaming immersion will come out of playing with another person.
