Next Update to Minecraft: Xbox 360 Edition Adds Temples, Pies, and More

Food, anvils, and even bartering!

The Minecraft: Xbox 360 Edition team is putting in work on the new updates for their highly popular game. As revealed on Twitter, 4J Studios is busily gearing up for the next patch which, in addition to various gameplay tweaks, will include plenty of features which have so far only ever seen the light of day on the PC. If you've been pining for an excuse to hop back into the blocky world of Minecraft on the Xbox, look no further.

The once relatively peaceful jungles and deserts now hold hidden dangers. Trap-laden temples hold great treasure for those brave enough to venture inside. While not necessarily breeding grounds for monsters, these ancient structures are ripe with other means of destruction. One wrong step can send an arrow straight into your avatar's face, or land them in a pit surrounded by soon-to-be-detonated TNT. Will you leave the treasure for more stalwart adventurers, or will you risk life and limb for riches?

The bizarrely shaped villagers (and their hideous, beaked noses) are setting up shop in villages all around your world. These folks have needs, you see, and these desires can only be fulfilled with the most random items you can possibly find. This one needs a handful of porkchops. This one, a set of stairs. And this guy? Well, you don't even want to know. However, they'll be ready to take your goods in return for the much-prized Emeralds, which haven't been seen on consoles until now.

Other changes close the gap between the 360 and the PC versions, including an updated crafting interface, and plenty of new food options for those who wish to try their hand at virtual farming, including carrots and potatoes. If you're already rocking a plot of land that produces pumpkin-cubes, what's keeping you from turning those ripe beauties into pumpkin pies? Anvils make their appearance in this patch, allowing you to rename, reforge, and combine enchantments on gear.

You can check out the rest of the proposed features here. Though 4J is reported to be hard at work on Xbox One and PS4 versions of the game, no date has been announced just yet. We'll keep you posted when we have more info.
