For PC Gamers no other input is as important as the keyboard. For some, they live and die - in game of course - by how fast they are able to manipulate a device designed for textual input. Steel Series is launching a successor to their popular ZBoard keyboard, a keyboard designed to accept inter-changeable keysets with custom key options for the game its based on. The best news is - existing ZBoard keysets will work with the new Shift.
Welcome to Beyond Co-Op, a weekly piece that talks about industry stories that may or may not be related to co-op gaming.
I'm pretty sure our staff is filled with Spartans. Not the scantily clad, muscle bound, sexy men kind - though we're that too - but the giant humanoid saviors of the galaxy kind. Every single one of us is playing Halo Reach this weekend, well everyone but Sam, but he's British and their funny looking money isn't accepted when trying to purchase the game. He gets a pass.
It seems like only yesterday I was discussing how Halo: Reach has dominated the Xbox 360 charts. This comes as no surprise, as Halo is the flagship series of Microsoft's big box. What is intriguing is that Reach has dethroned Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2.
Firefall, a free to play MMO action game from Red 5 Studios, was announced right before PAX 2010 in Seattle. The game was on the show floor for all to see, but details of it are still leaking out. Gamepro checked out the the title and have brought back a nice consolidated list of features from the game.
Looking at successful game franchises over the years, it's hard to argue that Halo reigns champion with Microsoft. Killer sales, rabid fans, and long-term commitments to online gameplay has put Halo on top in any incarnation over the years. Now it seems Microsoft isn't happy with only releasing a Halo title every 3 years or so.
Though Sam Stone isn't one to sneak, he managed to find his way onto Xbox Live Arcade this week despite no prior announcement of the game's launch. It's OK, he doesn't need the hype, fans of the serious know he's one co-op friendly cat. Our review of the PC version agrees. Serious Sam HD: The Second Encounter is out for 1200 and can be added to your download queue here. The game sports four player online co-op through the campaign and in a survival mode.
Halo: Reach seems to be the closest thing to a gaming religious experience this side of Bible Adventures. Bungie has provided some massive numbers showing off the huge commercial success and popularity of the game. These are week one numbers, or essentially numbers from the first four days! If I had a nickle for every Credit earned I'd have $3,924,978,044.75 and I'd be inventing addictions like chickoholism. (It's when you blenderize bacon-wrapped baby fried chickens and shoot it directly into your hair follicles.) Check out Bungie's incredible stats.
Major Nelson is out promoting Xbox Live deals in a whole new democratic way. On your Spotlight Channel, Xbox Live users now have the ability to have their voices heard on what games, or downloadable content should be discounted on the next Deal of the Week.
Sordahon's journey into the ridiculous continues, this time he's at the Southpeak Offices negotiating his list of demands in Two Worlds 2. I guess after constant abuse, job hunting and the need for psychiatric care Sordahon, Two Worlds 2 #2 villain, has had enough of the crap.
You remember our Top 5 Most Anticipated Co-Op Games This Fall? Several readers wondered why LittleBigPlanet 2 wasn't on that list. The general feeling among the staff that was while LBP was great, it wasn't the co-op that we loved; it was the amazing creation options, so we left it off the list. Sadly, it would appear that LittleBigPlanet 2 should have been left off for another reason: it's now been moved to a January 2011 release.
