Monster Hunter 3, or Monster Hunter Tri has been out in Japan for some time now. Fans in North America and Europe are beginning to wonder when they can get their hands on the latest game in the series, a series which has sold over 10 million copies worldwide. 2010 will indeed be the year of Tri on the Wii, and it comes packed with co-op gaming goodness.
This week's Xbox Live deal of the Week is the two player co-op R-Type Dimensions. The game was released earlier this year to a sticker shocking price of 1200. The deal cuts 33% off the price bringing it to a much more realistic 800 or $10.
If for nothing else, Call of Duty: World at War is going to go down in history for having the greatest co-op mode that was ever slapped onto a game: "Nazi Zombies" (Nacht der Untoten) came straight out of left field and has been providing gobs of great moments in co-op.
It's amazing how three little words can cost so much money, but that seems to be the case with the whole Modern Warfare 2 naming fiasco. In what is most likely Activision's attempt to create two franchises, the renaming of Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 to Modern Warfare 2 and back again has yielded interesting results.
We normally don't cover Rock Band or Guitar Hero DLC on the site, because frankly, there's just too damn much of it. But every once and a while something comes along that simply a crime not to mention. This weeks' Rock Band DLC is such an item.
We, as co-op loving gamers, love a good fight. Especially one where we're pitted against the odds with friends, and the difficulty challenges us with each wave. Horde Mode in Gears of War 2 has kept us busy for months now. After we're done with the new Horde DLC, we'll be ready for more. There's a new trailer out for the two player co-op RTS/FPS hybrid Raven Squad, and it's done in the style of the Grindhouse trailers of old.
For the past few Co-Op Classics columns, I've been trying to hit some of the key co-op games of the past. Double Dragon and the first Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles arcade game are on most people's list of classics. Today, we move on to what many consider to be the most influential game ever. This game spawned hundreds of clones, and almost singlehandedly birthed an entire game genre, the first person shooter. A technical marvel, a violent, intense atmosphere, awesome level design and downright scary foes, all wrapped up in a co-op package, make DOOM one of the greatest co-op games of all time.
