Our Weekend In Gaming: A F3ARful, Magic-al Trip to Jamestown

After the short week for most folks here in the US, it's already another fine weekend.  All manner of video gamey morsels are on the plate for the staff, though the biggest helpings appear to be for Jamestown, F3AR, and Duels of the Planeswalkers 2012.  Check the list for proof that using numbers in place of letters in a game's title never really works, since know when remembers how to really spell it.

New RAGE Video Focuses on Origins, Story, and Enemies

In this latest video for Rage we find out why the planet has gone to hell, learn some background information about the main character, and see some of the different factions in all their psychotic glory.  There's also a lot of visceral combat and 'splosions.  Rage looks like is will be right at home with Fallout and Borderlands fans.  The post-apocalypse has never looked better.

New 'Commando' Trailer for Toy Soldiers: Cold War

It's about to get 80's up in here!  This new trailer for Toy Soldiers: Cold War is lovingly dipped in some Stallone/Schwarzenegger juices.  Wait, that sounded better in my head.  Actually, now it sounds worse.  Far, far worse.  Horrifying, even...  I wonder if they'll have a "Rambo" character that looks like John Matrix.  I hope so.  There's not much else here, other than the Commando dishing out some Cold War pain.  Now go watch Over the Top!

The Real Story of the Headless Kamikaze in Serious Sam 3

Just because they don't have a head doesn't mean they don't have feelings.  This is the true story of a Headless Kamikaze named Brett Sanderson and his journey to joining Mental's horde.  Sure losing your head has some obvious disadvantages - but Brett is a positive thinker - and shows you how he's putting his new found talents to good use.

Halo Anniversary Getting Its Own Remastered Soundtrack

One thing every Halo game has had besides kick ass co-op play, is an equally satisfying soundtrack.  The Halo theme might be famous, but the entire score for every title stands out on its own as a great pieces of music.  The scores created by Martin O'Donnell and Michael Salvatori are truly some of my favorite all time game music.

New Trailer for LOTR War in the North Showcases Movie Connections, Pushes Release Date

The latest trailer for The Lord of the Rings: War in the North seeks to explain exactly why we should care about these unnamed characters who were not deemed worthy enough to be in the actual Fellowship.  The video has bits of the films spliced with gameplay footage, and the results are actually pretty cool.  The trailer gives some much needed weight to the Northern adventure.  After a lukewarm gameplay experience at E3, the whole thing was starting to feel like an unnecessary spin-off.  The in-game footage is all in slow motion, which is exactly how it felt hands-on.  Here's hoping that the elf I played as had the flu or something.  Snowblind has a great opportunity to build on events merely touched on in the novels.  I'd hope they do the legacy justice.

Seven Minutes of Call of Juarez: The Cartel

Call of Juarez: The Cartel, is a departure from the norm for the series.  The two previous games were originally westerns.  Now it's a pseudo-military shooter based in the modern day Mexican drug war.  The one guy has a cowboy hat, so you can see that the game is kind of sticking to its roots, if its roots include Uzi's, AK-47's and a crap ton of F-Bombs.  It the video you can see three characters working together, challenges, a revive mechanic, and a progression system.

New Co-Op Shots for Upcoming Crimson Alliance

Crimson Alliance is coming to the XBLA later this year.  Today we have six new screens showing some of the in-game action.  Grab three friends and put an end to the evil Cult of the Soul Siren.  Four players can team up locally or online.  I got a chance to play Crimson Alliance at E3.  It was a brightly colored, fast paced, arcade-style of dungeon crawler.  The inventories were streamlined and easily managed.  You may remember that this game is being offered as a free bonus to anyone who buys all of the XBLA Summer of Arcade titles.
