The Borderlands 2 final box art was recently revealed. With all the commotion surrounding the $100 and $150 special editions it was easy to overlook the version that all the normal people will be buying. The cover image should be familiar to anyone who remembers the iconic artwork from the first game. I'll admit I thought the original Borderlands cover was badass. Here's a reminder, just in case you missed out on one the best co-op games of this console generation:
Two collector's editions have been revealed today for Borderlands 2, which releases this fall on the Xbox 360, PlayStation 3 and PC. The Deluxe Vault Hunter’s Collector's Edition and Ultimate Loot Chest Limited Edition will set you back $99.99 and $149.99 respectively. Both editions are loaded with goodies for one of this year's biggest co-op games.
PAX East was full of surprises, especially during the panel with the developers at Gearbox. They has just announced that Borderlands 2 will be adding a new character class to their lineup, called the "Mechromancer" (a play on the “necromancer” class; a type of spellcaster who can raise the dead to do their dirty work).
If you played the first Borderlands on PC, you'll know that it wasn't exactly frustration-free. For example, getting people into a lobby together was often a problem, and players couldn't use the mouse in the game menus. It was still a fun game, but it was painfully clear to the PC crowd that this was a console game and that minimal work had been done to take advantage of the awesomeness that is PC gaming. Good, homicidal robot that he is, Claptrap has listened to our PC woes and promises that Borderlands 2 will be different; Borderlands 2 will have special, PC-only features.
It's only been a few weeks since we've seen the best trailer in videogames this year. Borderlands 2 looks to be bigger, better and more badass than the original in many ways. Game Informer has an interview with the game's writer Anthony Burch and concept artist Scott Kester in which they chat about the changes coming to the sequel, including details on the new characters, abilities, and story.
Sometimes I love being wrong about things. I thought for sure the delay of Aliens: Colonial Marines into the fall season would push Borderlands 2 from the same release window. After all - two Gearbox titles in a short span of time seemed a bit too good to be true.
In about a month from now, new Tegra 3 devices will be announced, in which Borderlands 2 is said to make a grand appearance in the Tegra Zone.
In an extensive interview with Borderland 2’s developer, Gearbox, we get a small scoop on the current standings of the game, as well as the co-op features this game will be packing.
It wasn't long ago we told you about the live action casting call for a Lilith for Borderlands 2. Gearbox was looking for a leading lady to fill Lilith's virtual shoes in the real world and they've already found their match in a beautiful Australian woman named Yasemin Arslan. What's a bit odd about the casting call is, Lilith serves as a secondary character in Borderlands 2, as the siren isn't actually playable in the game.
Do you want to be in a video game? Do you look like the subject in the lead image? (The human, not the robot.) Are you going to be in Texas tomorrow? Or more accurately, Dallas, Texas? Gearbox Software is holding a casting call for a live action version of Borderlands' Lilith. Whoever wins the role will appear in Borderlands 2. The role will be similar to that of the Guardian Angel from the first game.
Gearbox Software has been a Co-Optimus community darling ever since they released the mighty Borderlands. You may have heard that there is an upcoming sequel, titled -wait for it- Borderlands 2. Gearbox is a fan friendly company, and they want to know what you liked about the original Borderlands. You can follow this link and help them out with a survey. Complete the survey and you'll be entered into a drawing for some Gearbox swag.
Gearbox Software was showing off Borderlands 2 at PAX Prime this year, showcasing some of the tweaks and changes the game has taken on. The line for the game was definitely one of the longest of the show, with wait times approaching 5 hours. Keep in mind - that's not the wait to PLAY the game - that's to watch a 15 minute developer driven demo in a small theater. People are definitely excited for this one - and so are we.
Is anyone else sick of the Borderlands 2 hype, yet? I was, until I saw this teaser trailer. I'm amazed that I can fall in, and out, and then back in love again with a franchise so easily. All I required was to see it in motion. A jacked-up dwarf dual wielding machine guns helps, too. Oh Borderlands 2, I was wrong to ever doubt you. I'll never stray again. Unless... Well, don't mind my ramblings. Check out this new trailer. I'm going to go log another 8 hours into the first Borderlands.
The first screenshots of Borderlands 2 have leaked out. There's no word on where Gamersmint got this grabs from, especially since Game Informer has a one month exclusive on the game going on right now on its site and latest issue. Still the screens look pretty clear and don't appear to be scans, though they aren't really high resolution.
Despite being over a year away, the Borderlands 2 hype train is in full effect. Game Informer is going to have a full month of coverage on the upcoming title, starting with these two videos.
