Dungeon Defenders Co-Op Review

Review 8:00 PM on 10/28/2011 by Jim McLaughlin

A game that has always intrigued me by its potential is Dungeon Defenders. Using the Unreal engine and promising cross-platform, four player co-op is a good way to appeal to the Co-Opticrew. Cabela's Big Game Hunter 2012 Co-Op Review

Review 10:04 AM on 10/24/2011 by Jim McLaughlin

It’s an exciting time of the year for yours truly, a novice deer hunter. But until the season officially starts there are precious few ways to hold back the buck fever. Can Cabela’s Big Game Hunter 2012 fill the void? It's a long shot, but that's why we have a big scope.

Twisted Pixel Embraces Microsoft Acquisition

NEWS 11:43 AM on 10/12/2011 by Jim McLaughlin

Game studio acquisitions aren't always good news for gamers, especially when the studio in question is has enough momentum to stay afloat on its own. New parent companies can get in the way of quality product development. It's a fair reason for gamers to be gun-shy about acquisition news. Thankfully, Twisted Pixel has never led us to believe they would rather sell out than make great games.

Break Free with this Ratchet and Clank: All 4 One Boss Battle

NEWS 11:57 AM on 10/4/2011 by Jim McLaughlin

Forgive me a moment of self-indulging idiocy, but the first half of this Ratchet & Clank: All 4 One video evokes images from a certain partially slow-motion advertisement that ran about six years ago and is responsible - to this day - for periodically polluting my headspace with its catchy, bubbly music track. Now whenever I see cartoon characters jumping and flipping around in low gravity I can't help but murmur a few lines to myself.

The oldest of four brothers, Jim learned early on that competitive gaming is a good way to alienate everyone in the room. Now he balances a family life with gaming, and co-op is all the more important to squeezing video games in edgewise.

Jim kicked off his co-op career with games like Double Dragon II and the classic Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles beat-'em-ups. He feels that the internet and wireless technology have advanced co-op gaming more than anything else; he and his brothers have returned to co-op despite being split between long distances, and life is good
