Atomic Games: Six Days in Fallujah May Yet LiveNovember 03rd, 2009 at 4:09 PM by Jim "txshurricane" McLaughlin

Like the war it's based on, controversial third-person co-op shooter Six Days in Fallujah just won't go away.

Peter Tamte, president of Atomic Games and apparent lover of war games, said that he "remains committed" to Six Days and still shops it around as Destineer - his other development company - prepares to release Marines: Modern Urban Combat for the Nintendo Wii.

With the current competition on store shelves, would four-player co-op and a media flap be enough to make this a worthwhile effort? More options are always a good thing, in my book, but sometimes the long, hard road is best left to more marketable content. We'll see.

Six Days in Fallujah = Six Years in Development?June 23rd, 2009 at 11:56 AM by Jim "txshurricane" McLaughlin

Relax, folks, I'm only joking. Six years is a long time for a development cycle...usually.

So far, we have too little information or material on the third-person shooter Six Days in Fallujah to really care very much about it. We know that the developers are using somewhat controversial methods for research and that co-op will be included in some form...beyond that, the game's only claim to fame is that it's been in the news too many times for a title that doesn't even have a publisher anymore.

Konami Pulls Six Days in Fallujah Due to ControversyApril 27th, 2009 at 8:37 AM by Nicholas "bapenguin" Puleo

We've only just begun covering Six Days in Fallujah here on Co-Optimus, but it looks like that time has already come to an end, at least for now.  Not because the game pulled out the co-op mode, no, that's still in there.  No, it appears that in the face of controversy Konami has decided not to publish the title.

This doesn't mean that game won't be published, it's being developed by American studio Atomic Games.  But for now Konami doesn't want to deal with all the baggage that comes with making a war game based on a war that's not technically over.  The fighting in Fallujah in November 2004 was one of the most bloody and intense of the Iraqi war. More than 2,000 people, including many citizens, were killed in street battles over several weeks.

We still have hope that the game will find a new home and a new publisher, nothing breeds sales like controversy.  And we'll take a good tactical co-op game anyway we can get it.

Soldiers Get Their Wish - Co-Op in Fallujah, No Word on the PuppiesApril 14th, 2009 at 3:12 PM by Nicholas "bapenguin" Puleo

Earlier this week we reported on the controversial game from Konami called Six Days in Fallujah.  The title set to take place during the ongoing Iraqi war was immediately put under fire, and we told you how some soldiers think groups are blowing it a bit out of proportion.  One soldier in particular hoped the game would contain a co-op mode, and today Konami has confirmed those wishes with the official game announcement.

Soldiers hope for Co-Op in Six Days in Fallujah, Would Like Puppies TooApril 12th, 2009 at 5:20 PM by Nicholas "bapenguin" Puleo

Last week when Konami announced Six Days in Fallujah, a tactical game set in the current war in Iraq, there was quite a bit of public outrage.  Members of several groups, including the British military spoke out publicly against the game.  "It's much too soon to start making video games about a war that's still going on, and an extremely flippant response to one of the most important events in modern history. " Said Tim Collins a former colonel, "It's particularly insensitive given what happened in Fallujah, and I will certainly oppose the release of this game."

Several anti-war groups also spoke out against the game, stating it was insensitive and it only fueled their anti-war efforts.  But despite these public opinions, G4 TV went to the source, the current soldiers themselves, to get their thoughts on Konami's game.
