Turtle Power! Konami Announces TMNT: The Cowabunga Collection

13 Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles game coming in one bodacious collection

Ever since the golden age of arcade games, the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles games have been known for their cooperative multiplayer. Well, not every TMNT game features co-op, but the brilliant arcade games and many of the home games do allow players to team up as the turtle brothers. Konami developed most of those classics, and now 13 of them will be bundled on consoles and PC in Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Cowabunga Collection.

That's right. Although announced during Sony's recent State of Play event, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: The Cowabunga Collection will be a multiplatform release. Xbox, Sony, Switch, and PC kids will get to enjoy the following titles in the collection:

Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles (Arcade)
Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Turtles in Time (Arcade)
Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles (NES)
Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles II: The Arcade Game (NES)
Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles III: The Manhattan Project (NES)
Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Tournament Fighters (NES)
Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles IV: Turtles in Time (Super Nintendo)
Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Tournament Fighters (Super Nintendo)
Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: The Hyperstone Heist (Sega Genesis)
Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Tournament Fighters (Sega Genesis)
Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Fall of The Foot Clan (Game Boy)
Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles II: Back From The Sewers (Game Boy)
Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles III: Radical Rescue (Game Boy)

Bolded titles all feature local co-op. The following games will also feature online multiplayer: TMNT (Arcade), TMNT: Turtles in Time (Arcade), TMNT: The Hyperstone Heist, TMNT Tournament Fighters (Super Nintendo). It's a shame that two cooperative NES games and the Super NES Turtles in Time won't have online co-op, but it's hard to complain when a collection like this would usually offer zero online multiplayer in the first place. 11 of the 13 titles will also include their Japanese versions.

The collection is being developed by Digital Eclipse and published by Konami. Unique widescreen borders will be included for each game (yes!). Digital strategy guides, save states, and rewind features will also be included, thank goodness. The original NES game is notoriously difficult and frustrating when played in its original form.

Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: The Cowabunga Collection will be released physically and digitally on Xbox, PlayStation, and Switch; and digitally on Steam. The price will be $39.99, which sounds quite fair for such a massive and awesome collection. We'll keep our ninja-masked eyes on this one!
