I can honestly say this is one of the most varied issues of Beyond Co-Op we've ever had. Major platform releases, downloadable titles, portable games, and indie titles are all on display this month. Check the table of contents below and then dig in for a feast of 7 game reviews.
It wasn't long ago we got the first teaser trailer of Trine 2, and it wasn't long ago that we were teased of the game's platforms with only the PC version being confirmed. Thankfully we weren't made to wait too long as developer FrozenByte have confirmed a multiplatform release of Trine 2 for the Xbox Live Arcade, PlayStation Network and PC.
I really, really enjoy playing Lara Croft and the Guardian of Light despite the glaring lack of online support, but many of our own community have skipped over this title for that very reason. If all goes well from a technical standpoint, Crystal Dynamics is finally offering a twice-delayed online support patch on October 27th. This first patch will only be for the Xbox 360 version, with PlayStation 3 and PC patches still promised.
It's a great week to be a co-op gamer with an Xbox Live Gold membership. Last month, a poll was set up to allow folks to pick their choice for a Deal of the Week, and the winner was Battlefield: Bad Company 2. The deal has gone live this week, and you can nab the co-op Onslaught DLC for a mere 400 points, half off the normal price.
1C Company have announced a brand new game in the Men of War series called Men of War: Vietnam. The game is a real time strategy, 3rd person shooter hybrid, the puts players in control of two campaigns set during the Vietnam War.
It's round 3 on Sega's release of their classic titles to the PC, including some great co-op titles that we've revered throughout the years. Sega has spent a bit of time compiling their classic titles for release in one place, on the PC, hopefully to be kept, cherished, and relived by many - as well as shared with new generations to come.
Nick made the mistake of putting two long-winded writers on the same project. The result? Two projects. It has been 36 days since Halo: Reach hit the store shelves. In the past five weeks a ton of great games have come out for single and co-op play. Vanquish, Enslaved, Castlevania, Dead Rising 2, and Fallout: New Vegas are just a few good to excellent games that have all been vying for attention. For many gamers I know, Reach has made the trip back to that 'Used Games' shelf in the sky in exchange for a down payment on an apartment in New Vegas, or a hovel in Albion.
If you like your music games with a bit less metal and a bit more crossfading, you'll be glad to know that DJ Hero 2 is on store shelves starting today. Up to two turntables and a vocalist can team up to... er, spin that record, babe. If you're undecided about the game, you can try a browser based demo, using the mouse and keyboard to simulate the true turntable experience. It's actually pretty fun by itself, though I can't compare it to the real controller as I've never used one.
The 1986 film Fist of the North Star was one of my favorite anime when I was a kid. It was just so ridiculously violent. The storyline takes place after a nuclear holocaust in a land where savage gangs prey on the weak and martial art super men lay the smack down on a whim.
Just in time for Halloween we have a Red Dead Redemption Undead Nightmare DLC teaser for you. As we let you know last week, the new zombirific single player expansion will also have a survival mode for you and three of your friends.
