The above screenshot doesn't do Pixel Junk Shooter any justice, but the below video I'd say gives you a better idea of just how beautiful the game is. The latest in the Pixel Junk series from Q Games, Shooter tasks players with exploring underground caverns filled with lava, water, and dangerous enemies.
In the age-old debate of console gaming versus PC gaming -- which was revisited this week during our record-length Co-Opticast -- PC has always fallen short when it comes to ease of use. As Mike and Kat so aptly pointed out, one of the main reasons for this is the hassle of installing patches post-release.
We've already heard how you can lure enemies into a trap via brutal co-op deception in Army of Two: The 40th Day -- with the addition of civilian characters comes the annoyance of a conscience...or lack thereof. Joystiq -- ever impressed by EA Montreal's co-op sequel shooter -- viewed a demo this week at E3, and came away particularly moved by the game's new morality function.
Overlord was a quirky game, mixing humor with fantasy elements, and all from the perspective of the bad guys. The sequel, Overlord II, is coming later this month. The demo is up on Xbox Live now, and you can queue it up here. No word yet on PC or PSN demos, but we expect them soon.
June marks our 1 year anniversary for the official Xbox Live Co-Op Nights! Thats' right, one year ago we kicked off an idea of getting gamers together to play co-op with Halo 3, and now 13 co-op nights later (we had a bonus one in there) we're still going strong!
Left 4 Dead 2 was among the biggest surprises of E3 2009. Sure, it had been rumored, as we covered, but the money was on that being false. Valve has long been known as a company willing to support their games long term. Since Left 4 Dead just came out 6 months ago, and has a DLC pack just over a month old, why announce and release a sequel so soon?
As you already know, New Super Mario Bros. Wii will feature 4 player co-op. That's good. Not so good is the confirmation that there will be no online co-op in the game. According to Shigeru Miyamoto, the game is pushing the limits of the Wii's processing power already and online play wasn't feasible. Disappointing news, for sure, but not really shocking.
Great news couch co-op fans! We just got word off the E3 show floor from our Colony of Gamer's Reporter that Borderlands, the four player co-op action RPG from Gearbox, will indeed have split screen play.
By all reports the four player co-op Beatles Rock Band is shaping up to be another solid co-op music game. There's not much different here in terms of gameplay from other Rock Band titles, save for the harmonizing vocals. But what we do have is something fresh in the design of the campaign mode.
Though it's been warned that one shouldn't judge a book by its cover, we couldn't help it with Trine. Luckily, those warnings that fell on deaf ears didn't apply anyway, because after some demonstrations at E3, it's been said the game is at least as fun as it looks. This is great news for gamers, because they game looks phenomenal. 1up got their hands on this baby for an in-depth crash course, and share some intimate details with us.
