Video game taunts are something we generally enjoy; what better way to take someone down, than to make them cry. Army of Two showed how much fun co-op taunting can be. 50 Cent has a rather, er, colorful list of taunts to use in his upcoming game Blood on the Sand. It was no real shock to us when every line had a swear word or some other form of vulgarity. Now we can spend hours hitting the taunt button to hear “Try to climb me b****, now climb this!”
More and more game developers, press, and community members are using Twitter to connect with other people. It's simple, free, easy, and extremely adaptable to other social networking tools. Much of our own staff "Tweets" daily, and Co-Optimus has its own link feed as well (www.twitter.com/cooptimus), complete with Billy avatar.
With the Dawn of War 2 Beta is coming to a close, Relic has decided to share some interesting stats concerning the game over at the official Community Blog. The most popular race used in the beta was the Space Marines, with over 40% usage followed by the Eldar with 22% and the remaining at 18% a piece. There's some other great stats there including win and loss ratio and favorite game types, noticeably missing is co-op - well..not noticeably, it wasn't in the beta.
It's only been a few months since Guitar Hero World Tour was released, which means one thing. There's another Guitar Hero game right around the corner. No, not that one...this one.
You ALMOST had us Criterion. You added totally awesome cars are premium DLC to your 8 player co-op title Burnout Paradise. And what did you go and do? You priced the best car in the pack double that of the others. That's right, you'll be dropping $4 on your mock-DeLorean car in Burnout. I'd honestly be willing to pay it if these were actual license vehicles, instead of knock off cars.
I'm going to try to make it through this news item without calling any Activision CEO's Satan. This will be difficult for me, as it appears that the milking of the Guitar Hero franchise will be strong as ever in 2009.
Killzone 2 is the latest and greatest game coming for the PS3 later this month. The hype for this game has been intense. Some hail it as the greatest console FPS ever. Others call it the best game of 2009. Too bad the campaign is only single player, and the online multiplayer is only competitive, eh? Co-Optimus finds this disappointing, and we're not alone.
Today is President's day in the United States, celebrating the birthday's of some of our country's greatest founding fathers and presidents. And like any good birthday, when we were kids we always wished to have some sort of creature to ride. Whether that was a pony or a dragon - kids like to ride animals.
Despite a minor disappointment that can probably be attributed to the same guy that designed the Diablo III Care Bears t-shirt, Criterion Games continues to amaze us with their support of Burnout Paradise. The game is officially a year old, and they are still pounding out some great content for this 8-player co-op title.
SEGA announced last week that Mario and Sonic would again be competing in the Olypmic games...only this time, they're taking to the ski slopes and ice rinks, and they're doing it in co-op!
There's a live action G.I. Joe movie coming out this summer, one that's only about 20 years overdue. With any summer blockbuster comes the inevitible video game tie-in, and the Joe movie is no exception. As we previously reported, the game is being developed by EA, and will be available on the Xbox 360, PlayStation 3, Wii, PS2, etc etc. You know, the usual platform bombardment.
The Watchmen movie is set to hit theaters on March 6th of this year. Regarded as one of the greatest graphic novels of all time, it's something a lot of people are really looking forward to. The Watchmen: The End is Nigh is a two player co-op beat em up from Warner Bros Interactive, which is set to be released right before the movie on March 4th. You'll be able to obtain this two to three hour title from Xbox Live, PlayStation Network or on the PC via Direct2Drive or Steam.
