Guitar Hero Metallica Trailer Melts Your Face...Twice!

Better grab a welding mask, because your face is about to melt.  Activision has released the official trailer for Guitar Hero Metallica and it's not for the faint of heart.  No ma'am, this isn't your average party game.   Promising Metallica's "fiercest songs" I wouldn't expect this game to be for anyone other than the greatest of Guitar Heros.

DJ Hero Not Quite Ready to Fly, But it's Hammer Time

Remember when we told you that DJ Tiësto would is on board for a DJ Hero game from Guitar Hero publisher Activision?  Yeah...scratch that.  According to Kotaku, Tiësto's management released an official statement saying the rumors are "fictitious" and "fabricated."  "Tiësto has never given a quote regarding DJ Hero."  It appears the blog that started it simply...well...made it up.  Who would have thought?

Co-Op Games of the Year

The Co-Optimus staff is working away vigorously to determine the Co-Op Game of the Year, and we'll have that to you shortly.  But while you wait you may want to check out GamesRadar, who posted an article covering the same thing.  I'm not sure what gives them the authority to judge co-op, after all, they aren't the prime source of co-op gaming info - but we'll give them the benefit of the doubt.

Classic Co-Op Games Featured in 8-Bit Jesus Album

If you listened to the latest Co-Opticast, you'll recall us talking about 8-Bit Jesus.  This is a compilation of Holiday Music as it would have been performed on the sound chip from the venerable NES.  It's full of 100% pure win, I assure you.  At the time of the Co-Opticast, only half the full album was available, but now, the whole thing is up for download!  There are a few classic co-op games represented, such as Contraland, Bubbles We Have Heard on Bobble, and We Three Konami.  Anyone who is a fan of classic NES games will enjoy these, so head on over to DoctorOctoroc and check them out!  The (clever) full tracklist is after the break.

Co-Op Classics: Dungeons and Dragons Tower Of Doom

This week's Co-Op Classics features a couple of games that are near and dear to my heart.  I've been looking forward to writing about them for quite a while!  In my opinion, you will find no better examples of the four player co-operative beat 'em up than this series, especially the second title.  Grab some quarters, set down your soda, and pull up a chair, it just might be a long evening of crawling through the Dungeons and Dragons arcade game series!
