This week I attempted to trudge through the recently release Lord of the Rings: Conquest. I say trudge because in single player it's an incredibly frustrating experience. The constant knock downs, pinning against the environment, and the constant rain of enemy arrows really rub my hobbit feet the wrong way. Thankfully the game supports co-op, and jumping into a session of that helps alleviate the pain.
No this isn't the latest Carmen Sandiego game, it's the latest in a string of XBLA casual titles. We're hot on the trail of Dr. Chaos with our magnifying glass in hand and a team of crack investigators. Ready to read what we uncovered? Read on.
You might have noticed something a bit unusual about the songs recently released for Lips, the Xbox 360's answer to the Singstar series. It appears that some songs are just a bit more expensive than others. Here's an example:
In case you hadn't heard IO Interactive, the studio that brought us Hitman and Kane and Lynch, has had a change of heart in their style. What does this mean? IO interactive plans on releasing a cartoon-ish ninja-action game called Mini Ninjas sometime in the near future, and who doesn't want to be a Mini Ninja?
Remember when we told you that Killzone 2 was dropping any hope of having a co-op mode? Looks like that mistake has cost Guerilla Games dearly. How so? In the latest issue of mens magazine Maxim, they review both 50 Cent: Blood on the Sand and the upcoming PS3 exclusive Killzone 2.
Don't call it a patch, it's a title update. Whatever you want to call it, it fixes a ton of glitches and bugs that have been plaguing Gears of War 2's online multiplayer. While these issues have been holding the game back in the Live domination standings, most of these are for the game's online competitive mode. That's not to say there isn't anything here for us co-op players - there's numerous fixes for Horde mode as well as some new achievements.
Perhaps you live in sunny Florida, or balmy California, and are wishing for that magical winter wonderland of snow. Or, maybe you live in the permafrost in Siberia and just like to play snowboarding games. Either way, you now have a few more clothing options when playing Shaun White Snowboarding. The totally appropriately named "Freebie Pack" is now available on both Xbox Live and the Playstation Network. What do you get for free? Well, twelve new items of clothing and nine new boards, that's what. (Insert gift horse phrase here.)
Pandemic Studios, the developers of Lord of the Rings: Conquest, are hosting a week long game with developers session for the aforementioned title. From January 26th, 2009 through February 1st, 2009 over 20 team members will be playing online from 10PM to 2AM Eastern. The event takes place only on the Xbox 360 and promises to have developers playing all gameplay modes - which we assume includes the 2 player co-op mode.
Ghostbuster games have a long and arduous history. From their days on the Atari up until the most recent iterations, it's been quite some time since we've seen a new game. So when a small developer named Zootfly released footage onto the unsuspecting masses of YouTube in 2006 - the internet and fans erupted. This was the game everyone wanted.
