The Gentlebros' Cat Quest series of action RPGs has always been adorably awesome. Cat Quest III certainly looks to maintain that tradition, casting players as the sole survivors of a pirate attack in a nautical fantasy world. A gorgeous art style, pirate ship battles, and 2-player local co-op are just a few of this threequel's compelling features. Ahead of the game's August release, free demos (with co-op!) are now available on Steam and Switch.

The original Sword of the Necromancer, an action RPG from Grimorio of Games, is so popular that it's getting both a sequel and a remake. The remake, Sword of the Necromancer: Resurrection, will upgrade the visuals to 3D graphics and add gameplay improvements. Resurrection now has a Steam demo for a limited time, allowing players to check out its smooth gameplay and engaging storytelling.

In 2021, Robi Studios released a fairly well-liked 3D action adventure game called Blue Fire. Robi is now hard at work on their next game, Solar Raiders. This one maintains some appealing visual artistry but changes up the genre to roguelike shooter. It will also feature 4-player online co-op, something we're all about. The game isn't due until next year, but the developer has already released a demo on Steam.

It has been three years since indie developer Aftnareld announced Coridden, a co-op action RPG for Steam. The game missed its initial target release window of late 2022, but it's finally due to come out during Q3 of this year. To drive the point home, Aftnareld has released a fresh Steam demo that shows off Coridden's cool monster transformation mechanics and both local and online co-op!

The demo for Co OPERATION: MultiTurn is now live on Steam. Indie studio Mind Feast Games have been developing their debut title for over two years, including a year of closed-testing on indie platform Itch.  They've been active in our Discord as well looking for feedback from co-op gamers! 

It's been awhile since our co-op crew has gone on a monster hunt, but last week Locke, Mike, and Jason donned their armor and doot horns to check our the Monster Hunter Rise demo on the PC. Everything went exactly according to plan and they definitely have no rust from not playing for a while...

Microsoft is holding its own virtual demo showcase, similar to what Steam did a few weeks back. The focus is on indie games, with over 70 unreleased Xbox games that will be available to download and play between July 21 -27. 

As part of the Steam Game Festival 2020, a limited set of games are getting some timeboxed demos. One of those is Project Haven, a tactical RPG set in a gritty futuristic city. There's definitely some Syndicate like vibes from this one, with a splash of XCOM - but Project Haven looks to do some unique things with camera angles possibly giving players some more control.

Just last week I mentioned to someone that demos "weren't really a thing" anymore. Though I suppose, when you think about it, alphas and betas have taken the place of those. But fret not - because The Red Solstice 2: Survivors is making demos sexy again by having a demo version of the game made available on June 16th. Even better, the demo is focused purely on co-op play with your friends!

If you’re hungry for some adorable 2 player co-op or just a simple, visually-pleasing romp, you may want to give The Last Crystal a try now that the demo has gone live on Steam. In the super cute gameplay trailer (below) you can see the puzzle-solving co-op game in action as the heroes go about spreading flames, fighting monsters, upgrading their stats, traversing a variety of environments, talking with pandas, and more. While the date of the Kickstarter remains TBD, you can still enjoy a playable demo of the project before pledging your support.
