7 co-op titles are on the way for Switch owners

Co-Op Roundup - September 2022 Nintendo Direct

Ah, fall (in the Northern Hemisphere)... the weather starts to cool, the leaves begin to change, and the holiday video game releases loom on the horizon. While the start of summer typically marks developers and publishers hyping up the gaming community with big announcements for what's to come in a year (or two or three) via digital presentations and "Keigh3," the fall is when we usually get teasers of more immediate releases. For example, the September Nintendo Direct dropped yesterday and not only did it finally give a full name and release date for the next Zelda game (The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom, May 12, 2023), but there are four new co-op games, two remastered co-op games, and one existing co-op title that are coming to the Switch within the next 6 months.

It Takes Two Co-Op Impressions and Stream Recap

We've already had an extensive hands on preview with It Takes Two early last month. The game, if you didn't know, is a co-op platformer and adventure by Hazelight Studios. You can read all those detailed impressions here and here. Our latest stream of the game is actually covering a lot of the same topics - but having had a chance to reflect on some things, our opinion may have changed...slightly.

First level play though and thoughts

It Takes Two - "The Shed" Highlights and Commentary

Hopefully you've had a chance to read our hands on impressions with It Takes Two over here. As we talked about, Locke and I spent a few hours with the game playing through the opening levels and experiencing the different things the game has to offer. Over the next few days we'll highlight some of those experiences with a handful of video highlights we took from our sessions with the game.

It Takes Two Co-Op Hands on Preview

Josef Fares of Hazelight Studios has two major releases under his belt, both focused on narrative gameplay featuring two major characters. While 2013's Brothers - A Tale of Two Sons was a single player affair except on Switch, 2018's A Way Out was a full on co-op experience for two players as they attempted to break out of a prison. Now Josef and Hazelight are back for something decidedly different and honestly, all together fresh for video games.

Time to get dolled up.

It Takes Two Is Headed For Release In March

This story isn't exactly hot off the presses, but developer Hazelight Studios has revealed that their latest co-op game, It Takes Two, is aiming for release on March 26th of this year.  That means you have just under two months to wittle down your group of friends/family/significant others to just one ideal co-op partner.  You'll probably have to make some hard cuts, but I have faith you'll make the right decision in the end.

New Interview Sheds More Light On The Upcoming It Takes Two

Josef Fares is back in action with a brand new co-op title.  His latest game development project is It Takes Two, an action/platformer following the journey of two dolls which have come to life.  Not a huge amount is known about the game yet, but if Fares' previous entry, A Way Out, is any indicator, the game will be built from the ground up for a co-op experience.
