Orcs Must Die! 2 Announced, Features 2 Player Co-Op Play

Robot Entertainment have announced a sequel to last year's addictive tower defense action game, Orcs Must Die.  Orcs Must Die! 2 kicks the orc slaying up to 11 with an all new spell book loaded with traps and summons as well as a new character, the female Sorceresses.  Joining the War Mage, players can play as either character in the game's cooperative campaign.

With over 3.4 billion orcs slayed in the original game, you'd think there wouldn't be any green skins left to kill.  But it appears that simply isn't the case, and Robot is promising quite a few new enemies joining the fray trying to get to your sacred crystal.  In addition the game is getting a revamped skull system, which is used for upgrading your abilities.

Orcs Must Die! 2 will be playable at PAX East this coming weekend in Boston, MA at Booth 1172.   The game will be out exclusively on PCs this Summer.  We've got the announcement trailer posted below as well as an exclusive screenshot courtesy of the folks at Robot Entertainment!

When I saw the first game, I thought it's going to be awesome in Co-op. And then I watched a trailer of Dungeon Defenders, and thought it's a dumb game.

Guess what? OMD1 sucks, and DD rules! Why? Because DD has Co-op and better gameplay elements.

Now OMD2 comes with Co-op. I might just give it a chance, just for the Co-op, but if the game disappoints me, then Co-op can't save it...

Same here... OMD had me a little excited until I read/saw more about DD. While it's nice to see 2 player co-op in OMD2, it's too little too late. Give me at least 4 player please!!!

Well, as a singleplayer game, Orcs Must Die was really fun, and Dungeon Defenders was terrible.

Mind you, DD in co-op is a great deal of fun, but it's just about unplayable as a solo experience.

Orcs Must Die was a ton of fun; one of the best Indie games ever imo. Co-Op should be just what it needs to go from "Good" to "Great".

I'm sad that it's not coming to XBLA, but happy about the co-op.

OMD is a fantastic game, and I'd easily say the mechanics of OMD are much more enjoyable. The exclusion of co-op is unfortunate, but I would suggest not passing it up because of that.
