Mass Effect 3 Ends Afresh on June 26th

Free DLC will change the ending to Mass Effect 3 on June 26th

Mass Effect 3 is an excellent co-op game, you and 3 friends fight wave after wave of enemies.  What did you say, a single player game as well?  Turns out that attached to the co-op element of Mass Effect 3 was one of the best action RPG games of this generation.  Despite being a great game, the ending did not sit well with everyone, so new DLC, due out June 26th, might just be what they wanted.

Entitled 'The Extended Cut' DLC, this free download will expand on the ending of the game:

The Extended Cut expands on the endings of Mass Effect 3 through additional scenes and epilogue sequences. It provides more of the answers and closure that players have been asking for. It gives a sense of what the future holds as a result of the decisions made throughout the series. And it shows greater detail in the successes or failures based on how players achieved their endings.

The update is available on PC, 360 and PS3 and will take up around 1.9 Gig of space, so better start making some room for it.  Not strictly co-op news I know, but if the amount of hate shown over the original ending is anything to go by, this DLC will be welcome news for many .  So why not try out the single player campaign in between bouts of co-op action?

I'm mostly curious how I'll access it. Will I have to beat the game again (not the worst thing in the world) or just load up my save file?

sounds like they just expanded on the ending cutscenes so it should be enough to just load the savegame and finish again.

@pogfigster
Load up the final mission and you'll see the EC content. After you beat the game it's where they send you back to anyway. Should be easily accessible.

I read on another forum that you have to load a save before the Cerberus base.

@Apoc
Bioware suggests us to load a save before Cerberus HQ. But in fact all new contents are located after the sprint to Citadel beam begins.

>>Not strictly co-op news I know

In fact this is related to the coop mode.

When announcing the coop mode, fans feared that they would be forced to play storyless online matches. So Bioware promised that the coop mode was completely optional, wasn't necessary for getting the best ending of story mode.

But it turned out not true. Playing coop mode to boost the EMS gauge was the only way to see the "Shepard survives" scene at the end.

Some fans were pretty angry at this, because Bioware lied.

So I heard that this Extended Cut DLC would lower the EMS requirement, allowing player to get that bonus scene solely by playing story mode.

to be honest, I'm not even intrigued by this DLC at all.. while the ending did suck, I completely disagree that it was a great game except for the ending.. the first 2 games were RPGs with good combat FOR RPGs.. this game changed to being a shooter first, and frankly, the combat isn't that good in terms of being a shooter.. my biggest beef with this game is that none of the side conflicts make any sense.. why would Miranda fight her father when the end of the galaxy is imminent? why would the Geth and Quarians decide to escalate their conflict right when the reapers are heading their way? all of these conflicts are petty and unbelievable given the overall story-line.. I borrowed it from my sister on xbox just long enough to beat the campaign so I haven't gotten to try the coop mode yet.. if only origin didn't exist, I might have been able to get it for cheap on a steam sale this year.. oh well..
