Civilization V's next expansion pack is entitled Brave New World, it's the second fully feature content expansion for the game adding nine new civilizations, eight new wonders, two new scenarios, four new gameplay systems and dozens of new units. This isn't your kid's DLC folks.
Runic Games sent out a tweet last night letting the world know that Torchlight 2 has done quite well since it launched in September on the PC. The 6 player co-op, action/RPG has sold over 1 million copies to date. Not bad for a game our community chose as their Indie Co-Op GOTY.
I received my review copy for Baldur's Gate: Enhanced Edition Thanksgiving weekend. I was a little sad when I found out that currently the game only supports TCP/IP co-op, mostly because it meant I couldn't try out the co-op until release (I didn't know anyone else that had an early review copy). November 28th rolled around, which meant I could try the co-op... theoretically. Unfortunately, that was not to be, as my press copy was not the same version as the released copy! This took me a few frustrating days to find out (my own fault) as I attempted many work-arounds that didn't work (how could they have, considering the root problem?)
The world and its dog may be playing Borderlands 2 this week, but please note that there are other co-op games still out there. You can take your fancy graphics and 4 player co-op and I raise you old school graphics and 6 player co-op with X Men Arcade on XBLA; reduced to 400 Microsoft Points for one week only as of Wednesday 26th September.
Team Fortress 2 is an incredibly popular game from Valve that has had pretty consistent content updates for the better part of the last 3 years, and I don't just mean the hats. Now the game is getting what some might consider the biggest update since release - and entire new "faction" of of characters have joined the game. Except these aren't Reds or Blues, rather these are machines and it's time to team up with your friends against them in a survival mode.
If you use one of those new fangled "cloud gaming services" - more specifically, if you use OnLive, they've got a great deal going on if you want to play the new Civilization V expansion pack. If you purchased Civilization V: Gods and Kings for the normal price of $30, they'll throw in the base game (which is required) for free.
ike every Civ game before it, Civilization V has gotten an expansion pack that tightens and balances gameplay, adds new units and features, and makes the game even more addictive. With several new core systems added, new scenarios, new leaders, and new units there's plenty of content here for an expansion in the age of DLC. Let's see what Civilization V: Gods and Kings has to offer.
While the rumors of a new Baldur's Gate turned out to be false, what the site was actually teasing was an HD remake of Baldur's Gate 1 and Baldur's Gate 2 for PC and iPad. The best news? The game will cost about $10 (on iOS) and feature co-op multiplayer like the original.
We've got three copies of Earth Defense Force: Insect Armageddon up for grabs. Will you sign up to save the human race? EDF! EDF! EDF! Would you like to know more?
Killing Floor, the six player co-op shooter on PC, is kicking off a brand new promotion for the summer called "The Summer Sideshow Event." Evil monkey men? Check. Psychotic undead clown dudes? Check. Creepy guys wearing gas masks? Check. Hiding under the covers for the rest of the night? You betcha.
The second Call of Duty: Black Ops map pack was released yesterday, and we gave it a run-through on Combat Training. The pack includes four new maps for multiplayer (and the aforementioned Combat Training co-op/bot mode), plus one new Zombies map that may be the creepiest one since Verrückt.
White Knight Chronicles was released just shy of a year and a half ago. We found the game to be a pretty good single-player experience and a decent co-op experience. A week from now (June 9th for AUS, June 10th for UK, and June 8th for the rest of PAL), its sequel and prequel will simultaneously be hitting the store shelves on two different consoles.
This week's Xbox Live Gold Deals include the 6 player online co-op game, Castlevania: Harmony of Despair and all of its downloadable level content. The game is 50% off - making it 600
or about $6. All the content is also 50% off with each of the 5 stages coming in at 160 or 120
