Ghostbusters Wii Slimer Edition on Sale Right Now for $38!November 03rd, 2009 at 1:17 PM by Nicholas "bapenguin" Puleo

Right now for the next four hours, (deal is up sorry!) you can get the exlusive Slimer Edition of Ghostbusters for the Wii for only $38.  Normally the edition runs for $60 on the Wii or $70 on the Xbox 360 and PS3.  So what else do you get besides the game for the extra dough?

Included in the Slimer Edition:

  • An exclusive Slimer bust designed and created by the original movie sculptor, Steve Johnson. Comes complete with a certificate of authenticity signed by the sculptor himself.
  • Exclusive Ghostbusters Gamer Graffix Skins.
  • An exclusive (in the US) Ecto1 Key Chain that lights up and makes a siren sound.

As an owner of the 360 Slimer Edition, the statue makes an excellent addition to your shelves.   It's a quality and hefty piece of art.  If you remember, the Wii version of Ghostbusters was, in our opinion, the better tuned experience for co-op gamers compared to the next gen console versions.  It offers two player local co-op play through the game's story.

Ghostbusters Playstation 3 Graphics Get Un-SlimedAugust 26th, 2009 at 11:33 AM by Jim "txshurricane" McLaughlin

The PlayStation 3 version of Ghostbusters: The Video Game was criticized for its display issues, and for good reason. In fact, we "heartily" recommended the Xbox 360 version, citing the sub-par visuals as a solid reason.

Atari has apparently sneaked a patch in under our noses, and claims to have fixed not only the resolution differences, but also some known glitches involving online Trophies.

If you were waiting to grab a copy of Ghostbusters because of the afore-mentioned issues, this may be a good time to get in on some very decent four-player action.

"Bit Parts" - Bonus Round Panel Discusses the Future of Co-OpAugust 16th, 2009 at 5:18 PM by Jim "txshurricane" McLaughlin

Infinity Ward Community Manager Robert Bowling discusses Modern Warfare 2' s"Special Ops"

The latest Bonus Round episode on GameTrailers.com features a diversified panel that lays out some great perspectives on co-op as it currently exists and how they see it evolving in future games.

They close out the episode by discussing the approach that developers take when considering co-op implementation, and also the different types of game-playing that co-op fans partake of (couch co-op, online co-op, lack of co-op, and even MMO cooperative traits).

Robert Bowling (Twitter: @fourzerotwo) put a nice spin on the two-player co-op mode -- called Special Ops -- included in the upcoming surefire smash hit Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2; Infinity Ward's defense comes from the developers' realization that four players are rarely in the same room anymore. If they do happen to be...there's always Rock Band.

Ghostbusters: The Videogame for the Wii Co-Op ReviewJune 24th, 2009 at 1:27 PM by Katrina "ShadokatRegn" Pawlowski

By allowing a complete re imaging for the Wii release of a game, Atari did something much different with Ghostsbusters than what we normally see with games. Co-optimus.com was interested to see what those differences were between the Ghostbusters releases from a co-op specific point of view. Since we've already reviewed the Xbox 360 and PS3 versions of Ghostbusters, all that was left was the radically different looking and controlling Wii version. Does Ghostbusters on the Wii do co-op as well as the Xbox 360 version, or perhaps, even better?

Ghostbusters: The Video Game Co-Op ReviewJune 19th, 2009 at 11:24 AM by Jim "txshurricane" McLaughlin

Ghostbusters: The Video Game is one of my favorite games, currently. I'm not sure if nostalgia has blinded me, but that's very likely. This game does not seek to change the face of gaming -- it was created to appease Ghostbusters fans, and it does so very well. The big question here at Co-Optimus is: does it give us the stellar co-op that a Ghostbusters game of this generation should provide?

Ghostbusters Xbox 360 And PS3 Side-By-SideJune 17th, 2009 at 4:51 PM by Katrina "ShadokatRegn" Pawlowski

When it comes to comparing same games on different consoles, most of the time it simply feels like comparing apples to apples. Unfortunately, in the case of Ghostbusters, we're comparing apples on a tree to fallen apples that may have been hit by a lawnmower once or twice. Since it's important to know where your money is going, we felt it necessary to share the differences this time.

Co-Op Release Alert: GhostbustersJune 16th, 2009 at 8:15 AM by Nicholas "bapenguin" Puleo

It's time to strap on our unlicensed nuclear accelerators, and clear our minds as Ghostbusters the Videogame hits the Xbox 360, PlayStation 3, Wii and PS2 this week.  There's also a PC version coming out, which we originally thought had co-op, but reports are coming in that's simply not the case.

The Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 versions of the game support a four player online co-op mode that's separate from the story.  The Wii and PS2 versions support a 2 player split screen mode that follows the story.

On a similar note, this week is the 25th Anniversary of the first movie, which is now available on Blu-Ray.  Be sure to check out our Single Player and Co-Op Impressions of the game, with a full review coming soon.

Ghostbusters Single Player and Co-Op ImpressionsJune 12th, 2009 at 7:52 AM by Nicholas "bapenguin" Puleo

Perhaps it's the fact that Ghostbusters for the Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 starts with the old, film grain and all,  Columbia splash screen.  Or maybe it's the famous theme song that kicks in shortly after.  Whatever the reason, anyone born before 1985 is going to immediately have a smile on their face once the Ghostbusters disc hits their console.  It's been a long time coming since we've had a new and original Ghostbusters game, and it's finally here - and it has the entire, well most, of the cast backing it.
