EVGA Releases a Video Card with Co-Op, Physics-Only GPUNovember 03rd, 2009 at 1:02 PM by Nicholas "bapenguin" Puleo

While EVGA has had a CO-OP line of video cards for a while now, their latest edition to the dual GPU lineup is something a bit unique.  Instead of allowing SLI on a single card like most of the other co-op cards, the GTX 275 CO-OP uses a GTX 275 GPU for graphics and a GTS 250 GPU for PhysX support.  PhysX allows the GPU to do advance physics processing and effects.

The advantage of this in this case, is it allows EVGA to make a cheaper card with PhysX support, and not force people to get a much more expensive full dual GPU card.  Still at $350 it's no small chunk of change.  I vote they bundle in a solid co-op game with PhysX support like Sacred 2: Fallen Angel.

Sacred 2: Ice and Blood Announced with Screens, Trailer and InfoAugust 11th, 2009 at 1:26 PM by Nicholas "bapenguin" Puleo

We really enjoyed Sacred 2: Fallen Angel last year on the PC and earlier this year on the consoles.  Despite the fact the game's developer, Ascaron, has gone belly up - sales were solid enough to warrant an expansion pack called Ice and Blood.

The expansion pack will add the Dragon Mage character as well as two brand new areas in the world of Sacred 2 to explore.  Those areas come complete with brand new quests and items to complete and unlock.  The new items are for all existing characters as well as the new Dragon Mage character.  Of course all of the content will be available in the game's four player cooperative mode as well.

The add-on is currently only going to be available for the PC version of the game and will be available via download or at retail stores.  Look for it before the end of the year.

Sacred 2: Fallen Angel and LightFX Causing Alienware M17x IssuesJuly 19th, 2009 at 2:36 PM by Nicholas "bapenguin" Puleo

A little known feature of Sacred 2: Fallen Angel on the PC is the ability to integrate with Dell's LightFX keyboard lighting system.  The LightFX system backlit Dell's now defunct XPS laptop line with numerous colors, while the LightFX SDK allowed developers to control these based on what was happening in the game.

Now that Alienware is fully integrated into Dell, the latest Alienware M17x laptop from Dell also supports their LightFX system.  The problem with Sacred 2, is the game doesn't appear to be working properly with the keyboard lighting system, and there doesn't seem to be a way to disable it in the game.

Sacred 2 and Terminator: Salvation On the CheapMay 21st, 2009 at 11:09 AM by Nicholas "bapenguin" Puleo

Is your wallet getting a little light?  Still want to get in on some great co-op action with new releases?  GoGamer is coming to the rescue with great deals on the recently released Sacred 2: Fallen Angel for the 360 and PS3 and Terminator: Salvation for the 360 and PS3.

You'll be saving at least $15 on each of these, though personally the better deal and value will be Sacred 2.  Four player co-op either online, locally or a combination of the two is pretty sweet.  And there's lots of replayability.
