When we announced that Bioshock 2 was set to feature Co-op, the Co-op gamer in me jumped for joy, but my inner horror gamer was very unsure. The recently released Resident Evil 5 sparked a similar doubt in me when trying to decide if I wanted to play alone, or hook up with a friend.
On the co-op side of things, sharing the experience of a horror game can be like watching a campy zombie movie with friends. Building fond memories of a time with scary monsters after our brains, or precious life force called “Adam”. Co-op has potential for amusing anecdotes to share down the road.

Remember when we told you that Killzone 2 was dropping any hope of having a co-op mode? Looks like that mistake has cost Guerilla Games dearly. How so? In the latest issue of mens magazine Maxim, they review both 50 Cent: Blood on the Sand and the upcoming PS3 exclusive Killzone 2.
Maxim gave Killzone 2 a three and a half blue dotty things out of five stating the game was "the hottest girl at the ball, but not the best dancer."
Our boy 50? "A Wanksta-proof gem, Sand combines arcade-style collecting, 18 new music tracks, co-op play and a story that's Indiana Jones meets Scarface."
Final round Killzone 2 gray orange glowy eyed dude - you're TKO'd. Better luck next year! Proof positive that co-op triumphs all.

Anytime any big name title gets a multi-platform release, someone...somewhere inevitably does a side by side comparison to see which version is "better." With the Resident Evil 5 Co-Op demo released last month in Japan on the Xbox 360 and a recent PS3 version of the demo becoming available with new system purchases; well that time has come.
The-Horror.com ran the game through some tests and noticed that the 360 version was sharper, contained higher resolution textures, and was "more precise." Simple things like the number of shadows, the volume of smoke, and the detail in character features were all distinguishably different. All isn't quite so well though for the 360 as the demo had some pretty bad screen tearing which wasn't present on the PlayStation 3 version. Be sure to check out the site for a ton of nice roll over image comparisons.
Of course all of this could be moot as these are just demo versions of an unfinished game, but if anything it does show that PS3 version has a ways to go. For the first Resident Evil game on a Microsoft platform this definitely shows promise. As long as both versions have exploding zombie heads - I think I'll be happy.

Our coverage of Soulja Boy is finally at an end, barring a miracle in his upcoming game, there's simply no reason to talk about him anymore. As we previously reported, Soulja Boy and Stephen Totilo of MTV Multiplayer Blog fame were set to duke it out in a 3 round video game blockbuster battle that would rival The Wizard.
The battle is over, and the winner is crowned. And while the battle itself didn't live up to the hype, Totilo did get some pretty interesting info out of the rapper in regards to cooperative play and Left 4 Dead.
“Left4Dead” is kind of the new “Braid”: Between rounds of our match, Soulja Boy and I talked games. He’s clearly not a single-player gaming kind of guy. So I was curious what he thought of “Left4Dead,” which seems perfect for him. He said he’d only played it a little and I gathered that he hadn’t really wrapped his head around how it’s meant to be played. He wasn’t mocking the game, as he did “Braid,” but if there’s a game that you’d want a gamer of Soulja Boy’s interests to get into, I think it’s “Left4Dead.” I was telling him that co-op is a must.
And I thought rappers were all about teamwork. It seems every other song has a "featuring" by line.

Remember the good ol' days when rap stars would feud about who's the better lyrical gangster? A time when lyrics consisted of trash talkin ho's, shooting off 9's, and of course magical blunts? No more my friends, as the rap war has bled into the video game industry thanks to the likes of 50 Cent and Soulja Boy.
We all know 50 has his own game coming out, a sequel actually, called Blood on the Sand for the Xbox 360 and PS3. In fact, the game looks quite good, and boasts some great co-op play by all accounts. But don't let that fool you, because Fitty is going to kick your ass in the game, and he challenges anyone to try otherwise. Curtis my dear boy, can't we all just get along and play some co-op?
You already knew Soulja Boy doesn't like co-op, so we aren't holding out much hope that is now announced game will contain it. Yes, that's right, the Soulja Boy video game will be hitting the Xbox 360 in 2009. And while DeAndre doesn't have his own game yet, that didn't stop him from throwing down the gauntlet to MTV Multiplayer Blog's Stephen Totilo. And guess what? It's on like Donkey Kong...err..rather.. Geometry Wars 2.

Here's a slightly off topic news post. We all know there's an ongoing battle for the best music game out there. Whether it's Guitar Hero, Rock Band or Rock Revolution everyone has an opinion on which one plays better, has better music and has the best co-op experience.
Ex-Activision PR Rep Grace Kim has an opinion too, and her's might carry a little more weight. If you didn't know, Activision publishes Guitar Hero: World Tour. And when Grace left the PR industry to pose for Playboy, they wanted to show her gamer side. But as you can see above, Grace didn't pose with the Guitar Hero kit, no, she chose Rock Band's Stratocaster instead. That's right guys, the November Playmate of the month posed in Playboy with plastic guitars and drums. Look how far we've come.
But the backhanded slap to Guitar Hero didn't end there, nope. Instead in an interview with gaming network G4 she called Guitar Hero World Tour a "bit of a rip-off of Rock Band" and even disses the drum kit a bit. Earlier today, Nick posted Gears 2 versus Left 4 Dead, a comparison of two of this season's hottest co-op games.
This time, we're pitting Left 4 Dead against the Call of Duty: World at War Nazi Zombie mode. IGN has a two-page write-up that throws both game modes into a cage match and declares a winner for each round. While it's disheartening for someone like myself to see Left 4 Dead pound my beloved World at War into the ground, it's a good read from Jason Ocampo.

The fine folks over at Gamasutra have posted an article examining two of the best co-op games to come out in some time, Left 4 Dead and Gears of War 2. In fact, we gave both games a perfect score in their co-op reviews. (Gears and Left 4)
With two fine games there's got to be a clear winner, right? Well actually the article examines how each one approaches co-op in a different way. While Gears of War 2 is a bit more traditional, a story based cooperative experience that both players can enjoy, as well as an added incentive co-op only mode in Horde.
