The stories for this week:

Suppose for a moment that you could go back a decade in time. The original PlayStation is achieving popularity, and the Nintendo 64 is still new. The Xbox and its successor won't be available for years. If you were to walk into an arcade, you wouldn't see many DDR machines yet, but there would be dozens of fighters.  Mortal Kombat, Street Fighter, and Killer Instinct ruled the day.  One on one fighting was by far the most popular genre, but there were a few notable exceptions that featured co-op gameplay. One of those, a fondly remembered classic, one that spawned several sequels, was Metal Slug.

Going to be a beautiful weekend for most folks across the country.  Time to get outside with the DSi or PSP and enjoy the sun.  

Here at Co-optimus.com, we tend to preach co-op in games that should pretty obviously have co-op. Well, this time we have backup from the people over at IGN, who recently made five simple suggestions about how to improve on the Xbox 360 and PS3 versions of Ghostbusters. Most of the recommendations were technical things, like having a map available for gamers, or aiming tweaks – it's when they touched on a co-op storyline our heartstrings were plucked.  

Tom Clancy, or rather Ubisoft, has released a fresh content pack for the four player co-op aerial shooter HAWX.   The pack is called the European Assault DLC and feature 6 planes for $4.99 on the PS3 or 400 .   These planes can then be used on your co-op missions to destroy things like: tanks, planes, stadiums, and canaries.  

Aegis Wing may be old news for some, but in the age of tight budget co-op games it doesn't get much better than free. We take a look at the Xbox Live Arcade shooter and its four player co-op in our latest review.

Even though the Penny-Arcade Expo is over four months away, it's hard NOT to get excited for it already.  To make things even more difficult, the show organizers have revealed some details on the event set to take place on September 4th through the 6th.

In the coming months, the Battlefield Report will cover a lot of different games and scenarios. This month, however, we fall back to familiar ground.

The latest DLC for 2 player co-op title Saint's Row 2 is now available!  "Ultor Exposed", as it is called, looks to be a worthwhile purchase for fans of co-op!

Paramount has announced a brand new Star Trek game to launch along side the upcoming summer blockbuster Star Trek movie.

Codemasters has just unleashed a brand new video of the two player co-op Damnation.  The steampunk style game features drop-in and drop-out online co-op play through the entire story, which, appears to be a shooter on the surface.  The latest video is all about the moves players and enemies perform in the game bringing things a bit closer to a platformer.

So you have all these awesome plastic instruments laying around, and you've upgraded them all to be wireless.  Tired of that ugly corded microphone for Rock Band or Guitar Hero?  Wouldn't it be cool if those sexy new wireless microphones for Lips worked with the full band games?
