Over the last three weeks or so two shooter beta programs have been launched and closed. Here are my personal impressions of the Battlefield 3 open beta (Xbox 360 version) and the Ghost Recon Online closed beta (PC).
The king of dance games is back, this time with more songs and two-player local co-op. If you thought dancing by yourself was fun, wait till a partner joins in on the action.
Launch trailers are all the rage these days, it's a publisher one final attempt to make you say - "Man...I probably should pre-order this." EA has just put out their launch trailer for Battlefield 3 and I think it serves its purpose quite well. We've got drama, we've got emotion, we've got tension, and we've got plenty of explosions and guitar riffs. Cha-Ching.
Next week's co-op juggernaut, Battlefield 3, will have a surprise in every box - a code that can be redeemed to download the Mass Effect 3 co-op demo. The demo code in Battlefield 3 is part of the online pass program for that game from EA - so it's something you'll be doing anyway if you planned on playing the game's online co-op or versus modes.

Dungeon Defenders has been kick'n it on the mobile scene for a while now. We all knew it was only a matter of time before Trendy Entertainment's tower defense/hack and slash/lootopia would launch on the the big boy platforms. It finally happened yesterday. A second Gears of War 3 add-on has been announced. Titled "RAAM's Shadow," it's a prequel to the original Gears of War. Everyone likes prequels, right? Ahem. Unholy trilogies aside, "RAAM's Shadow" will obviously support co-op! As Epic's Senior PR Manager, Dana Cowley, tweeted to our own intrepid Nick Puleo:

The first Sony TV with the much lauded SimulView technology will be available for purchase on November 13th worldwide. The 24 inch 3D TV utilizes a set of 3D glasses for each player to create two distinct 2D images - thereby eliminating an actual split-screen setup and allowing both players to look at the full screen. We had some eyes on time with the TV back at E3 and came away pretty impressed - but one thing has changed since then - the bundled game.
Disappointing news today as the official Game Informer issue has reached Co-optimus HQ bearing the bad news about the upcoming Transformers game. According to their exclusive preview article of Transformers: Fall of Cybertron, the game is dropping the three player co-op campaign that was a staple of the previous game in the series.
