AI War Celebrates 4 Years with Bundle Savings, New Expansion

Arcen Games' flagship title, AI War, turns four years old this week. Four years! In today's seemingly "churn 'em and burn 'em" world of games, it's impressive that a title has not only maintained its lifespan for that period of time, but the developers themselves continue to support it and release new content for it. In celebration of this occasion, Arcen is offering a bundle deal of all that content for just $6, including their latest expansion: Vengeance of the Machine. It's easy math. 1 game plus 5 expansions = $6.

AI War 4.0 Released with New Graphics Engine, Now Available on Mac

Arcen Games have just released a brand new version of AI War bringing it up to version 4.0.  The game's creator, Chris Park, touts this as the biggest update to the game to date.  The largest change, without a doubt, is a complete rewrite of the game's engine in the Unity 3D Engine.  Doing so allows for fancier effects and graphics - and more importantly - cross platform support with Macs.

Indie Strategy Bundle Includes AI War Plus Zenith Remnant Expansion

As the weekend approaches and you're wondering what you might be playing, three indie developers are offering up each of their strategy-based PC titles in a bundle deal that will run you just $49.99 (as opposed to the regular $90 price for all three).  This deal runs from now until March 9th, so you have a couple days past the weekend to pick it up.  One of these titles is the co-op RTS title, AI War: Fleet Command, and its recent expansion, The Zenith Remnant.  In our review of the game, we felt that the co-op portions of AI War worked really well and the different AI foes, which The Zenith Remnant expanded upon, you could select kept the game interesting.  Each of the titles includes a demo, so you can check each title out before committing to anything.  While we haven't had a chance to play the other two titles being offered, PC gamers that are fans of the Sins of a Solar Empire series should definitely give AI War a spin.

Arcen Games has Two Co-Op Titles Lined up for 2010

2009 was a good year for Arcen games, makers of the successful and addictive co-op RTS, AI War.  In what's no doubt a result of that success, Arcen has announced it will have two vastly different titles coming in 2010 - both which will support co-op play.  In fact, Christopher Park, Arcen's CEO, told us that this would always be a primary feature in their games moving forward.

AI War: Fleet Command Co-Op Review

There is a phrase that is commonly linked with any discussion of the co-op in an RTS: "comp stomp."  The phrase refers to the typical situation that occurs when a group of players team up to take on one or more computer opponents and proceed to thrash them about the place.  This can be fun for a few matches, but the novelty quickly wears thin as the computer does nothing new or interesting each time you face it.  AI War, Arcen Games’ first outing into the gaming market, shatters this stale and repetitive formula to create something that’s not quite an RTS, not quite a 4X, but completely fun and, most importantly, completely co-op.

Co-Op Release Alert: AI War: Fleet Command

AI War, the RTS/4x co-op title from Arcen Games, is out today on Steam. The game features full on-line and local, drop-in/drop-out co-op for up to eight players.  It also includes online leaderboards and 129 Steam achievements for players.  As an added bonus, Steam is running a special on the game through Oct. 27th.  Order it now and you can pick it up for just $15.  That's a lot of game for that price, believe me.  AI War has been out for some time through Impulse and Arcen Game's official site, but the Steam release marks a major milestone in the game's development. As Christopher Park mentioned in our interview with him, the update from the previous version to this release version included alot of changes and pretty much all of them were done to ensure a solid co-op experience.  We also mentioned in that article that if you purchased the game from another outlet, such as Direct2Drive or Stardock's Impulse, that you'd still be able to utilize the "activate a product on Steam" feature.  We've heard from Christopher and he assures us that this feature should be available within the next couple of days.  Until then, be sure to tune in tomorrow for our review!

Interview with Christopher Park - AI War Lead Designer

AI War, the co-op RTS/4x title from Arcen Games, LLC, has been out for some time now, but the game is about to hit a major milestone this Wednesday.  Not only will the game hit version 2.0, which will include new features and a few bug fixes, but it will also be available on Steam with 129 Steam achievements and online leaderboards.  We chatted with Christopher Park, CEO, Lead Programmer, and Lead Designer for Arcen, about this unique co-op game, how the taking on the AI with a group can be more satisfying than going alone, and the power of co-op gaming.
