The concept of free to play RPGs might sound a little weird, but sometimes it works. Etheria: Restart is an upcoming JRPG that draws inspiration from Genshin Impact and similar games and takes the fight to cyberspace. It will feature several modes, including a 2-player online co-op mode called "Phantom Theater." The PC version of Etheria: Restart launches on June 5.
Geolocation games (also known as location-based games) are mobile games that incorporate changes in the player's real-world location into the gameplay. The most famous example is Pokemon Go, but there are other geolocation games out there too. Mythwalker is one such title from NantGames. It allows up to three players to team up to battle monsters and complete quests together, even if they're not located in the same area.
Back when the 3DS still had an eShop, it was home to a series of downloadable games called The Denpa Men. That series will soon live on in the form of The New Denpa Men, an upcoming free to play game for Switch. In the long-ago days of the early 1990s, a sci-fi RPG called Star Control II came out on PC and 3DO, and it knocked the socks right off of anyone who played it. Now, the creators of the series are working on a modern sequel called Free Stars: Children of Infinity. This will be the first installment in the series to feature 2-player online co-op, an early stretch goal for the fundraising campaign. Sucker Punch's stylish samurai third-person action game, Ghost of Tsushima, received its 1.11 update today, which not only brings New Game+ to the title but a whole new co-op mode as well. "Legends" will let you and some friends work together in three different mission types: Story, Survival, and Raid (coming at a later date). Players will choose to play as one of four different classes - Samurai, Ronin, Hunter, and Assassin - and will gain new gear and abilities for their class as they play.
Epic Games and Tripwire Interactive have announced that Killing Floor 2 is available for everyone for free until July 16th. Monster Hunter World: Iceborne has reached the convergence point wherein console and PC players are finally in step with how they experience the game.
