What? There's no way we've already made it to the weekend. Just yesterday, I was slamming my alarm clock and emerging from my weekend fugue state. Plus, if it's already the weekend, then that would mean Christmas is just a couple weeks away, and that can't be true, cause then I wouldn't have time to get gifts- ...
Square Enix and Omega Force are bringing Dragon Quest Heroes 2 to the States and Europe this Spring. Like so many Omega Force titles, this one does follow the familiar Dynasty Warriors hack-and-slash formula, but with a Dragon Quest slant instead of Lu Bu.
Starting next Friday, December 16, you and your fellow space-faring friends will be able to check out System Era's exploration/adventure game, Astroneer, as the title officially enters Steam Early Access and the Xbox/Windows 10 Game Preview program on that day.
"Wow," I remember thinking when I first gazed upon State of Decay's Steam page, "this has just about everything I'd want in a zombie survival game." Not only did it allow you to engage in the traditional scavenging, crafting, and defending mechanics found elsewhere in the genre, it also attempted to simulate the humans living within this apocalyptic nightmare and their various relationships. Unfortunately, it was without any sort of co-op mode, and as such, was tough to imagine fitting into my traditional gaming rotation.
After the closed beta wrapped up last week, Space Hulk: Deathwing developer Streum On got some significant feedback from all those players about the state of the game. In order to address some of the bigger concerns, like slow loading times, better interfaces/menus, and various other bug fixes, they need a little more time. Specifically, one week.
Earlier this year, those wacky goats in Goat Simulator decided to take up heisting with the PAYDAY DLC. At the time, this was a PC exclusive DLC pack that added a camel, a flamingo, a dolphin, and four new goats to the roster of playable animals in the game, as well as some vaguely PAYDAY 2 themed things. That DLC is now availab...
The exact future for Battleborn may be up-in-the-air, but with the next update, Gearbox and 2K are hoping to attract a few more players to the title. The big ticket item with this update is that all 25 characters in the original roster, i.e., none of the new ones that have been added over the past six months, will be unlocked for free simply by completing the Prologue.
While Sony had a fair number of surprises for its fans at the PlayStation Experience this past weekend, including the reveal of The Last of Us: Part 2 and Windjammers making its way digitally to PSN, the one game that was perhaps the biggest surprise was Knack 2. While the original has its appeal and drawbacks, it sounds like Japan Studio has heard much of the criticism leveled at the game and put that to work to make the sequel better.
Lamina Studios' action-adventure/twin-stick shooter/rogue-like dungeon crawler, Dungeon Souls, is out of Early Access and is now in its full release build on Steam. Players must do their best to survive the challenges of each procedurally generated floor of the dungeon in order to find the exit to the next floor and get closer to escape.
Since it's debut last July, Rocket League has risen to be one of the most popular multiplayer games out there. We're just happy that you can play against some co-op bots with buddies. A new sci-fi themed arena, "Starbase ARC," gets added to the title, but perhaps best of all, PC players will be able to share their own custom maps with folks via Steam Workshop.
The December update for Gears of War 4 brings a little co-op goodness for PC players. If you'd rather split your screen vertically or horizontally, you now can. This splitscreen option is for the campaign only, however, so playing Horde mode locally is still a horizontal split.
Happy Wars continues its journey through the various Microsoft storefronts this month with its release on Windows 10. Some titles would be happy with one, or even two, platforms to call home, but not ol' Happy Wars.
The Co-Opticrew has begun to emerge from their various comfort food-induced comas, which means that the preparation for a harsh winter must begin. We've already stocked up on almost all the necessities (food, water, firewood, virginal blood to conduct our nightly Yuletide rituals, bedding, etc), so that leaves just one final item: video games.
After months of speculation, Bulletstorm: Full Clip Edition has been officially announced. This remastered unique FPS/action game from 2011 will be storming onto PC, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One this spring with a few new updates and additional content.
While we got a little bit of info about Mass Effect: Andromeda's revamped co-op mode earlier this week, it appears that's about all we'll be getting for now. There was a new gameplay trailer shown off at The Game Awards last evening, but no mentions of the co-op or how it will tie into the single-player campaign. So, for now, we'll ...
As 2016 (thankfully) comes to a close, many titles will be getting into the holiday spirit with specially themed content. Plants Vs Zombies: Garden Warfare 2 is no exception. Two new legendary characters and 1 "festive" customization pack have been added to the tile for a nominal fee.
During last night's Game Awards, Microsoft and 343 Industries showed off a new trailer for the upcoming Halo Wars 2 that put a little more focus on the Brute, Atriox, you'll be going up against in the campaign. They also made a surprise announcement that Halo Wars: Definitive Edition will be releasing on PC and Xbox One, and you can get it early if you pre-order the Ultimate Edition of the sequel.
Dauntless is an online co-op action RPG where up to 4 players work together to hunt down ferocious beasts called Behemoths. It sounds a lot like Monster Hunter, and with talent from Bio-Ware, Riot, Capcom, and Blizzard feeding into new developer Phoenix Labs, there's a lot of potential.
It's been promised for some time and now the PlayStation 4 version of ARK: Survival Evolved will finally be available to play on December 6. This is not the final version of the game, as the title is still in Early Access on Steam and Game Preview on Xbox One, but if you've been waiting for it to make it to this platform, then you only have to wait a few more days.
In case you missed it last week, our co-op review of Dragon Ball Xenoverse 2 went up. We both had fun playing it, even if the Parallel Quests and Expert Missions can get a bit repetitive. If, like us, you're looking for something new to do, then you're in luck! Later this month the game will receive some free and paid DLC that will add new quests, new teachers, and more.
Good news if you enjoy slow motion death cams and also live in "the land down under." EB Games is offering a Collector's Edition for the PlayStation 4 and Xbox One versions of Sniper Elite 4 for just $AUD129.95. No word on whether this will be making its way to any other territories, so if you're outside of Australia and really interested in picking it up, then you certainly can, but expect a pretty big shipping fee.
The other LEGO game that Traveller's Tales has been working on, LEGO Worlds, will see its full debut soon. This sandbox title has been in Steam Early Access (and still is, actually) since summer 2015, but it will get upgraded to the final version and be available not only on PC but PlayStation 4 and Xbox One on February 24, 2017.
