Star Wars Battlefront Release Dates Announced, Co-op Mode Confirmed

Watch the epic trailer if you haven't already!

Most of the community is buzzing with excitement to hear about the latest Star Wars Battlefront trailer that released last week. We can confirm that there will be an online co-op component along with the mass multiplayer experience the Battlefront series is known for.

That's right people, Battlefront is coming to the next generation! We've waiting a long time, but now we have a release date for the next title in the franchise, November 17, 2015. Electronic Arts, DICE, and Lucasfilm have come together to blend epic ground combat with large star fighter battles all in one game. The Frostbite engine combined with Lucasfilm's amazing universe is truly a sight to behold. Senior Producer, Sigurlina Ingvarsdottir, had this to say regarding the new Battlefront title:

“Like so many others around the world, everyone at DICE is a tremendous fan of the StarWars universe. To beworking on a Star Wars project and knowing we are helping to represent the universe we love to our generation and a legion of new Star Wars fans is truly an honor. Thanks to the access and knowledge shared with us by Lucasfilm, and the passion and talent of our team, we plan to deliver an amazing game that puts you right in the middle of the Star Wars battles you always imagined playing.”

Just in case you missed the popular trailer, here's what you've been missing out on.

Yes, players will be able to fly in Rebel Snow Speeders, take to the sky in X-Wing fighters, control massive Imperial AT-AT Walkers, zip around on nimble Speeder Bikes, or simply go on foot with tons of cool gadgets and weaponry like the personal bubble shield. Tons of iconic Star Wars planets will also be present here: Tatooine, Hoth, Endor, and an unexplored planet, Sullust. Don't forget that a great selection of legendary characters will also be playable in the game as well, such as Darth Vader and Boba Fett.

While the massive 40 player multiplayer matches are going to be the main focus of the game, there will still be a wide variety of modes to choose from. For instance, there will be a solo campaign with carefully crafted missions that can be played in either (what we've been waiting to hear about) offline local split-screen or online co-op modes! At the moment, it sounds as if only one other player may join in co-operative modes, but we hope to hear more on this soon. Now, we'll have to wait for some actual gameplay footage to, but E3 2015 is right around the corner. Hopefully we'll get some raw gameplay action rather than pre-rendered cutscenes to believe the hype.

If anyone is interested in pre-ordering Battlefront, experiencing a special DLC mission early called the Battle of Jakku will be available for those that do so. This battle takes place during "the pivotal moment when the New Republic confronted key Imperial holdouts on a remote desert planet on the Outer Rim. Taking place in the aftermath of the Rebel victory in the Battle of Endor." Those that preorder will be able to access the DLC on December 1, 2015, while everyone that didn't can obtain it one week late on December 8, 2015. 5 in-game items are also included in the pre-order:

  • DL44 blaster – as made famous by Han Solo
  • Ion Grenade
  • Ion Torpedo
  • Ion Shock (exclusive emote)
  • Victory (exclusive emote)
