Pre-Order Left 4 Dead 2, Get Bill's Hat in Team Fortress 2

Nicholas "bapenguin" Puleo November 5th, 2009 at 9:09 AM

If you pre-purchased or plan on pre-purchasing Left 4 Dead 2 on Steam, there's a spiffy little extra you'll get if you also play Valve's Team Fortress 2.  Namely you get Bill's beret from Left 4 Dead 1.

But this isn't just some cheap marketing gimmick, nope.  There's a backstory.

... while conducting a science experiment on parallel dimensions, Bill's hat fell off a table into the Team Fortress universe.

And there ya have it.  I would have liked to see the Heavy try to wear Rochelle's pink shirt or the Spy wield the frying pan.  I suppose this will do.

huh... that's odd. i don't play TF2 so there's absolutely no incentive added with this bonus. even for people that do play TF2, isn't that a bit weird? whatever...

"plus save 10%" - that's your incentive right there.

I want Bills hat in real life .

Would have been cool to see Francis's vest make it to TF2.

Speaking of TF2 where in the heck are the new maps for the 360 version lol.

Bio, what is up with you and that vest?

So.. pre-order L4D2 to get a bonus for a entirely different game and 10% off...what? L4D2 or TF2? I'm confused...like so much about this situation.

@Mrxknown_JG: Pre-order L4D2, you get a nice little incentive in TF2, which may be enough to sway some people over to buying, especially given they've done a few sales where the game was $2.50. (I'm not sure of the current sale price.) You also receive 10% off L4D2 when you pre-order, because Steam/VALVe loves to offer sales on big games that they sell.

People on the TF2 forums were beyond belief when the hat came out. Apparently, people have it backwards -- they think "Why would I pay $45 for a hat?" when the correct phrase is "Why would I pay $45 for a game, and a freebie hat in a game that I also enjoy?" *Shrugs.* People are silly. . .

I got my Bill's Hat just for logging into Steam, thanks to a four-pack from a friend. The hat looks really nice on the Pyro, too, which makes me happy, since s/he's the only class I play. Not many people in-game have it, or are wearing it, so it draws quite a bit of attention. Except then you get the people who have the [Don't Heal Bill's Hat"> tag in their name, which is absolutely pathetic. . . But whatever. I enjoy hats.

It's the only thing I don't hate.

Next Halloween I am going to dress up like Francis and say stuff like:

"I hate kids"
"I hate women who use halloween to dress like skanks"
"I hate guys who hit on me in the drive thru at burger king" <---- True story

Pure win sir.

My friend and I didn't like this game at all. We didn't have to put any thought into it, and each stage was over in five seconds
Very good to know .I know the previous TMNT game would not let you do couch co-op online.
We played couch co-op online, yes. But if an online player drops out, no one else can pop in unless you restart the game.
I'll buy it, for sure.
