If you've played Left 4 Dead 2 and reached the finale of the first campaign, Dead Center, then you know all about Jimmy Gibbs Jr.
"He's only the greatest stock car racer of our generation... read a book sometime!" says Ellis during the finale's intro. And while we may have hoped that Mr Gibbs found a way out of the apocalypse and made it to safety, it seems that isn't the case. An enterprising modder has found a zombie model for Gibbs available for unlocking.
Despite being on everyone's radar as the most popular enemy in a video game the past year, the zombies are shuddering on their limp legs as Left 4 Dead 2, the sequel to the game that seemed to start the trend, is out on Tuesday, November 17th.
In case you didn't know, Left 4 Dead 2 has four player cooperative play through five campaigns, placing gamers in the role of one of four survivors. You'll go through an evil carnival, a swamp, New Orleans and other zombie infested locales all the while using new weapons and items to survive the best you can. Can you say frying pan? The game is available on the Xbox 360 and PC.
Our new Survivors: Nick, Ellis, Coach and Rochelle
Let's face it, Valve's track record for timing isn't exactly the best. Considering the Left 4 Dead 2 demo and Modern Warfare 2 delays made a few users...unpleasant...Valve has decided to lay it out for you in black and white on just when Left 4 Dead 2 will be unlocked via Steam. Are you ready?
When L4D2 will go live:
- Monday, November 16th, 9:00 PM Pacific Standard Time
- Monday, November 16th, 10:00 PM Mountain Standard Time
- Monday, November 16th, 11:00 PM Central Standard Time
- Tuesday, November 17th, 12:00 AM (midnight) Eastern Standard Time
- Tuesday, November 17th, 5:00 AM Greenwich Mean Time
- Tuesday, November 17th, 8:00 AM Moscow Time
- Tuesday, November 17th, 2:00 PM Japan Standard Time
And there you have it. We're less than two days away from more Left 4 Dead and solid four player cooperative zombie slaying.

Left 4 Dead 2 is releasing next week, and Amazon has a solid deal for you on the 360 version. You can pick the game up for $55 and you'll get $10 off future video game purchases. If you picked up any of their other deals recently, you probably already have some credit to burn!
You can even get the game on release date for only $5, or free if you are a Prime member. The PC version is available for $45.

If you preordered the PC version of Left 4 Dead 2, and got yourself a hat in Team Fortress 2, you might want to right click on that little icon and start pre-loading. Over the weekend Valve unlocked the game for pre-loading, and in doing so gamers are one step closer to stopping the zombie horde with three of their friends.
The entire game weighs in at 6.37 gigabytes in size, making it almost a full double layered DVD. Probably wise to start doing this ASAP so you're ready when the game launches next Tuesday, November 17th.

It appears the boycott isn't really working at all! Preorder sales for Left 4 Dead 2 are doing quite well, according to CVG's interview with Valve's Chet Faliszek. How well? Try four times the level of the original Left 4 Dead. After playing through the demo, I can easily see why; the game looks to be one of the year's best.
Maybe you are on the fence about the game, and can't decide whether to preorder? You might want to check out this video at G4TV. It's a twelve minute walkthrough of the new "realism" difficulty level. There's quite a lot of interesting information, including a few tidbits about the AI Director, which controls in-game events. The new and improved Director will monitor how well players are progressing, and alter the environment to compensate. For example, if a group of players is working well together, the amount of rainfall might increase to make shooting more difficult. A nice touch, for sure, and we can't wait to get our hands on Left 4 Dead 2 later this month.

If you pre-purchased or plan on pre-purchasing Left 4 Dead 2 on Steam, there's a spiffy little extra you'll get if you also play Valve's Team Fortress 2. Namely you get Bill's beret from Left 4 Dead 1.
But this isn't just some cheap marketing gimmick, nope. There's a backstory.
... while conducting a science experiment on parallel dimensions, Bill's hat fell off a table into the Team Fortress universe.
And there ya have it. I would have liked to see the Heavy try to wear Rochelle's pink shirt or the Spy wield the frying pan. I suppose this will do.
