Last week, Marc and Mike chronicled their adventures together as they tackled Dawn of War II's campaign. This week, Co-Optimus staffers Tally and Jason will regale you with their tales from their recent venture into Left 4 Dead 2's "The Passing" DLC campaign. Rather than a straightforward telling, though, they've gotten a bit creative with this assignment and decided to detail their adventure from the perspective of the characters they played: Rochelle and Ellis.

This week's Left 4 Dead 2 mutation should be considered a "fan favorite." Called Chainsaw Massacre all four survivors must survive the campaigns of the game with only a chainsaw at there disposal. Like the slogan says, 4 chainsaws - millions of zombies. Well zombies, jockeys, boomers, spitters and tanks.
Yes, you need to kill the tanks with a chainsaw.
Remember these mutations requires the latest DLC on the 360, PC owners already have the content as it was released for free.

We've had several email tips regarding how to add splitscreen to a couple of favorite co-op games, namely Unreal Tournament III, Left 4 Dead, and Left 4 Dead 2. The console versions of these first-person shooters all supported splitscreen (even splitscreen online), but for some reason it was left out for the PC versions.
The greatest thing about these quick file edits is that you can choose if you want vertical or horizontal splitscreen. The code itself is too lengthy to post here, but follow the below source links to find detailed instructions on how to customize each game. If you try any of these, be sure to let us know in the comments. Have fun, and thanks to our tipsters - especially Alex Wawroski and Patrick Lavallée!

This week's Left 4 Dead 2 mutation is a very unique, and very co-op friendly one. Called Last Gnome on Earth, players are tasked with carrying a gnome through one level of the campaign. Sounds similar to the "Guardin' Gnome" achievement where you need to carry the gnome through the entire Dark Carnival campaign, but there's a twist.
Do you crave attention? Want all the infected to swarm you and the gnome you are carrying? Then we have the game mode for you. The team needs to carry the garden gnome from start to finish in any campaign. The common infected hate the gnome and will swarm whoever is carrying him. Watch out putting him on the ground, a boomer explosion will send him flying!
The mutation will be available for one week for owners of "The Passing" DLC. Valve will be playing online on both the Xbox 360 and PC, and you can see the tags they are playing under at the official blog.

While gamers had to wait almost a year for their first taste of a new campaign for Left 4 Dead 1, with the second game the wait was half of that. Left 4 Dead 2's The Passing has been talked up quite a bit, the campaign from the get go sounded like one designed for longtime fans of the series as our favorite characters from both games would finally come face to face. Having played the three level campaign a handful of times now, we weigh in on whether or not the content is worth the price of admission - which of course varies by platform from free on the PC, to $7 on the Xbox 360.

We'll be playing this new content as well as the core game - so if you're missing any of the campaigns or having a hard time finding someone to play The Passing with, this is the perfect opportunity.

Zombies queued all night to get the new Passing DLC
Major Nelson's regular posting of upcoming Xbox LIVE releases is always a time to hold your breath in anticipation as to what goodies may be on the way. Well time to exhale co-op lovers as the next couple of weeks has some great offers for you. Firstly, the post officially announces the release date of Left 4 Dead 2's The Passing as April 22nd - that's tomorrow! Major Nelson also reminds people that the official beta for Halo: Reach is to begin on May 3rd for people who have a copy of Halo: ODST gathering dust on their shelf.
If this was not enough, the next couple of weeks have two co-op XBLA gems reduced to $5. The week beginning April 26th has The Dishwasher: Dead Samurai for 400 MSP and the week beginning May 3rd has Zombie Apocalypse also reduced to 400 MSP. The Dishwasher received a reasonable review score from Co-Optimus, whilst Zombie Apocalypse received a cracking 4.5 out of 5. For such a low price both games are worth picking up for any co-op player looking for a new challenge.

This week we wanted to honor some phenomenal Indie games that cost a mere dollar on Xbox LIVE Arcade, and a few honorable mentions of Co-op Indie games that were very enjoyable. Everything in this episode is on the cheap, so if you've got 80(POINTS) or so lying around, you should check these out.
