The post-apocalyptic, Eastern-European setting seems to have been growing in popularity these days, with Metro: Last Light releasing just earlier today. Soon, Left 4 Dead 2 players will be able to take the normally southern-based team of Survivors on a Ukrainian based campaign within a brand new indie mod.
Left 4 Dead 2 will be entering into its Linux version very shortly, integrating it with Valve’s ongoing “Extended Mutation System” beta. What is EMS exactly? Essentially, it’s an easy way for modders to change various scripts within the game, totally customize them however they choose, and so much more (not to be confused with the Steam Workshop). Up until now, this system has only been available in very small testing groups, but that’s about to change very soon.
There's a new survival map available for Left 4 Dead 2 on PC called Helm's Deep Reborn. It's based off the fortress featured in the second Lord of the Rings movie, The Two Towers. The map is available via the Steam Workshop and you can play it via official Valve servers.

Barcelona is one of the must see cities of the world; the culture, the food, the drink, the ambiance. All of this would be undermined should the dead rise and walk the Earth. This is exactly the turn of events in the Left 4 Dead 2 user-designed campaign Warcelona, available now to download on Valve's official servers on PC.

For this week's This Week in Co-Op, Tally and Eric decide to tackle Left 4 Dead 2's new DLC, entitled Cold Stream. It's been awhile since either of them played L4D, it's a new map, and while Eric's a vet at the game, he's never played it on PC before. How will this all turn out?
While PC owners dove into the icy waters of Cold Stream last week in Left 4 Dead 2, 360 owners were left out in the...uh..cold. Luckily the delay for the console version is short lived, with the official Left 4 Dead twitter account announcing the content will be available for purchase this Friday, August 3rd.
Left 4 Dead 2's Cold Stream DLC is finally out on PC today, with your copy auto-updating via Steam as soon as you open it. The campaign has been in beta for months, but is now finally available to the masses. The cost to you, keyboard and mouse lovers, is a mere $0. That's right - it's totally free for some more co-op zombie slaying.
Your Steam library may be coming to Linux soon, or at least, some of it will. Valve have officially announced a version of the Steam will be coming to at least one flavor of the penguin powered operating system, namely Ubuntu. Of course just because the Steam platform will be making an appearance, doesn't mean you'll instantly be able to play all of your games without Windows. Much like the Mac version of the digital distribution platform, games will need to be able to run on Linux first.
It sure took Valve a long time to get to this point, but now we have an official release date for Left 4 Dead 2 campaign, “Cold Stream”, set to release later on this month.
After months of play-testing, Valve has issued one of the most significant patches to the “Cold Steam” campaign and remaining Left 4 Dead maps. As the full DLC is scheduled to be released on the PC version of the game very soon, Left 4 Dead 2’s newest campaign additions are looking to accommodate the main differences of L4D2 from L4D as smoothly as possible.

So when you combine the two into a brand new map for the Adventure mode in Minecraft what do you get? You get Mine 4 Dead: Blockhawk Down - a brand new map and skin pack for Minecraft.
Good work, survivors! Last Wednesday, Valve had an interesting proposal for the Left 4 Dead 2 community. If 20,000 people could earn the "Stream Crosser" achievement by the end of Sunday, July 10th, Valve would go ahead and release the Dead Air campaign a little early. It took players less than 24 hours. Much less. It actually took about four and a half hours for gamers to hit the benchmark. (Way to skew the curve, guys.)
