Hey guys, whatcha playing? Mortal Kombat X has loosened Bloodborne's grip on many Co-Optimus staffers, though some of us remain enthralled. Here's what we're up to this weekend.

Let's get something out of the way right now.  The Trine series has been known for consistently beautiful visuals since it first graced our liquid crystal-ridden screens, and Frozenbyte has long been the master of the whimsical fantasy aesthetic.  These two facts are infinite truths.  Pillars of all that we know to be real.  Trine 3, though?  Woof, guys.  Woof.  

There's a war in the garden, and it looks like you're invited. The too-adorable zombie/plant shooter Plants vs Zombies: Garden Warfare has been around for about a year, and just about anytime there's a sale, you can grab it for cheap. Case in point: for the next 11 or so days, you can get your hands on the game for cheap as part of the Humble Origin Bundle 2.

Speedrunners can utterly wreck your favorite games and leave you wanting more. When indie developer Frima opened the floodgates with a speedrunning contest featuring its 2014 couch co-op favorite Chariot, the end results surpassed their wildest expectations. Call the co-op buddies, the free to play RPG Path of Exile is about to suck you in once again. The Awakening is on its way in June, and it's boasting so many new areas, new monsters, new maps, and other improvements, the development team has been secretly calling it Path of Exile Version 2.0.0.

Don't worry folks, Hoebear is on the way! Previously an Xbox One exclusive, the Danish-made co-op puzzle platformer Kalimba is finally heading to PC on April 22. There's also a few new pieces of DLC scheduled to hit, one of which includes ten new co-op levels!

Way back in the distant month of February, Polish developer Techland sent out an unusual invitation. They wanted to know what we, the children of the internet, would want when it came to mod tools for Dying Light. Asking the internet for advice is typically similar to asking an army of fire ants to investigate your internal organs, but in this case, it seems to have paid off. Dying Light's PC version now supports mod tools, available on the Steam Workshop.

6 player online zombie killing sounds like a great idea and this is exactly what you can do in Killing Floor 2, but do you have the rig to pull it off?  Details have been announced on the PC specifications for the game as well as a Digital Deluxe Edition.

A game that was first showcased at last year's Gamescom event, Hollowpoint, is shaping to be one awesome co-op game by Ruffian Games and Paradox Interactive. Hollowpoint is a platform shooter game we've had our eyes on for its four-player online co-op and the unique blending of both 2D and 3D elements in firefights.

Next month, Co-Optimus staff and community will be participating in Operation Supply Drop's 4th Annual 8-Bit Salute. We're hoping to put together a team of co-op gamers (like you!) to attempt a 24 hour marathon of gaming for our troops. Of course, it's not all fun and games, we're raising money to send gaming-filled care packages to our troops who are risking their lives to defend the US and her allies. These courageous folks are under continuous stress, and could truly benefit from a mental escape that gaming often provides.

Over the years we've spoken with a fair number of independent developers about their co-op games, but our chat with Intropy Games marks a first. This husband and wife duo are taking their programming skills into the gaming world with their upcoming co-op puzzle-action game for the Wii U, Astral Breakers....
